This is a list of the greatest Arizona Diamondbacks ever. Along with the Tampa Bay Rays, the Arizona Diamondbacks are baseball's youngest franchise. However, this doesn't mean that the franchise is devoid of talent or Hall of Fame players. In 2001, the club made history when it defeated the New York Yankees in seven games to win its first World Series after only three years of existence. Many of the best players in Diamondbacks history were on that championship team including two of the best Diamondbacks ever in pitchers Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. The Diamondbacks dynamic duo almost singlehandedly mowed down hitters en route to the franchise's only championship. They are considered two of the greatest pitchers of their generation and the city was fortunate to have them as members of the Arizona Diamondbacks roster for years.Luis Gonzalez is considered the greatest hitter to don Diamondbacks colors. Like the rest of the franchise, Gonzalez's best season came in 2001 when he had an eye-opening 57 home runs, 142 RBIs along with 100 walks. Looking to follow in Gonzalez's footsteps is Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. Already one of baseball's feared hitters, Goldschmidt's breakout 2013 campaign landed him a berth in the All Star game in only his third season. He is already considered one of the greatest Diamondbacks to play the game.&nbsp;This list of the greatest Arizona Diamondbacks players of all time encompasses the club's greatest players in its short history. Since the early 90s, the Atlanta Braves have&nbsp;established themselves as one of the model franchises in Major League Baseball. Although the franchise won only one World Series title over that time, Atlanta established itself as one of baseball&#39;s premier teams and through shrewd trades, smart free agent acquisitions and a scouting department that is able to identify the best young talent through the draft, the Braves are on a short list of teams that are perennial contenders. Many of these moves brought the greatest Braves players to Atlanta where they eventually became some of the <a href="https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-greatest-baseball-players-of-all-time" target="_blank">greatest baseball players of all time</a>.

The best Atlanta Braves of all time span the team&#39;s long history, which began in Boston as the Beanstockings in 1871. In 1953, the Braves left Boston for Milwaukee, where the club stayed for 12 years before settling in Atlanta in 1966. The franchise&#39;s most iconic player is long time Home Run King Hank Aaron. Outside of winning World Series titles, the greatest Braves moment is when Aaron broke Babe Ruth&#39;s home run record in 1974 at Atlanta&#39;s Fulton County Stadium.

Some of the greatest Atlanta Braves players were with the team throughout it&#39;s recent stretch of excellence. Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz and Greg Maddux were all integral parts of the Braves teams that won 14 division titles.&nbsp;

Winning 268 games in 19 seasons, Palmer was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990, his second year eligibility. Palmer fronted a strong pitching staff that led the Orioles to three World Series titles during his tenure with the club.These players are the best in Baltimore Orioles history. The number of all-time greats to play for the Red Sox is only comparable to their longtime hated rivals the New York Yankees. The names on this list are impressive, and you&#39;ll find many of them on the list for the <a href="https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-greatest-baseball-players-of-all-time" target="_blank">greatest baseball players of all time.</a> Among the best Boston Red Sox of all time&nbsp;are all-stars, MVPs, batting champs, hall of famers and World Series winners. After an 86-year wait, the Red Sox broke the Curse of the Bambino when they won the World Series in 2004. The Curse of the Bambino&#39;s central figure, Babe Ruth, widely considered one of the best hitters to ever play the game, was originally on the Red Sox before they traded him to New York in 1918. The trade flipped history as the Red Sox gave their best player to the rival Yankees and baseball history was forever changed.

Ted Williams is widely considered to be one of the greatest Red Sox of all time. In his 19 years, Williams won the <a class="edS-cl" href="https://www.ranker.com/list/2020-al-mvp-predictions/pedro-cerrano?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">American League MVP</a> twice, batting champion six times (a career average of .344), a two-time Triple Crown winner and All-Star seventeen times. Williams could have had an even better career numbers wise had he not served in the U.S. military during World War II. He is also the last player to hit over .400 in a season, which was in 1941.&nbsp;

During the latter years, players like Pedro Martinez, Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Jonathan Papelbon and Dustin Pedroia are a handful of Red Sox who are considered some of the best players in franchise history. These players played critical roles in the team&#39;s recent championships.

The North Siders. The Lovable Losers. The Cubbies. No matter how you know them, the Chicago Cubs are one of the most beloved franchises in Major League Baseball. One of the oldest sports franchises in American sporting history, the Cubs have an illustrious history despite not having won a World Series title since 1908, a streak that&#39;s unmatched. What makes this streak even more baffling is the long line of great players that have donned the Cubs blue and white. Some of the greatest players in baseball played for the Cubs including a slew of Rookies of the Year, a handful of Cy Young Award Winners, MVPs and Hall of Famers.

One of the best Chicago Cubs in history is shortstop Ernie Banks. The first Black player in Cubs history, Banks is revered by Cubs fans despite the two-time MVP never played in a postseason game. There&#39;s a statue of Banks outside of Wrigley Field honoring his contributions on and off the field.&nbsp;

Many of the Cub players you&#39;ll see on this list are from the franchise&#39;s early years. Hack Wilson holds one of baseball&#39;s greatest records: RBIs in a single season. In 1930, Wilson drove in a mindboggling 191 runs along with bashing 56 home runs. Though Sammy Sosa later broke his record for home runs, Wilson&#39;s accomplishments land him on this list of the Greatest Chicago Cubs of All Time.

This is a list of the greatest Chicago White Sox players in team history. Established in 1894, the Chicago White Sox are one of the classic major league franchises. Known as the the Pale Hose, the ChiSox or in some quarters, the Black Sox, the White Sox featured some of the best players ever during the formative years of professional baseball. During the early twentieth century, the White Sox had one of the best teams in baseball. The team won several World Series with the likes of Eddie Cicotte, Red Faber and Reb Russell on the hill, while the acquisition of Shoeless Joe Jackson from Cleveland helped catapult the squad to the 1917 World Series title. After the Black Sox scandal saw many of the White Sox's best players banned from baseball, they had moderate success.In the early '90s, behind the strength of slugger Frank Thomas, the White Sox were always competing for the American League's Central Division title. Nicknamed the Big Hurt, Thomas was one of baseball's biggest stars during his playing days. Thomas is a four-time Silver Slugger Award winner (1991, 1993, 1994, 2000), and two-time AL MVP (1993, 1994). He won the AL batting title in 1997, was named AL Comeback Player of the Year in 2000. The White Sox retired his trademark number 35 in 2010 and a statue of Thomas was erected in front of U.S. Cellular Field in 2011. With a team that has as rich of a history as the White Sox, there are going to be many players who should be on the list of the greatest White Sox players of all time. This is a list of the greatest Cincinnati Reds in team history. Formed in 1869, the CIncinnati Reds are America's oldest professional sports franchise. The Reds have won nine National League pennants and five World Series championships in its history, with the last being in 1990. Throughout its history, the Reds have featured some of the strongest lineups and best hitters in baseball history. Cincinnati players have won 12 MVP awards and surprisingly, zero Cy Youngs, even though pitcher Bucky Walters won the MVP in 1939. Twelve Cincinnati Reds players are in the Hall of Fame wearing Reds caps.&nbsp;The 1970s were a dominant decade for the Reds. Nicknamed the Big Red Machine, the Reds were led by one of the bestand most renowned lineups in baseball history. Between 1970-1977, Reds players won six National League MVP awards.Joe Morgan (1975, 1976) and Johnny Bench (1970, 1972) took home two a piece and Pete Rose (1973) and George Foster (1977) as the other winners. This run of MVP winners showcases how impressive those Reds teams were. the team won five National League Western Division titles, four National League pennants, and two World Series titles.The team's combined record from 1970-1976 was 683 wins and 443 losses, an average of nearly 98 wins per season.More recently, the Reds have experienced a renaissance in the same vein of those championship squads. Already, Joey Votto, the National League MVP winner in 2010 and second baseman Brandon Phillips have established themselves as two of the greatest infielders in the team's history. Corey Kluber

One of the American League&#39;s charter franchises, the Cleveland Indians have one of the most star-crossed history in the big leagues. From the team&#39;s beginnings, it somehow hasn&#39;t managed to win as many championships as its talent level would dictate. Whenever they had terrific pitching, somehow the hitting was slacking and vice versa. The Indians have won two World Series titles with the last one coming in 1948. After a World Series defeat to the New York Giants in 1954, the Indians didn&#39;t sniff the playoffs until the early &#39;90s. The years in between were marked by futility and poor play.

Hall of Famer Bob Feller is considered one of the greatest Cleveland Indians ever, but Major League Baseball history as well. Feller won the American League pitching triple crown in 1940 after leading the league in wins, ERA and strikeouts. He played a key role in the 1948 championship team and remains the Indians leader in wins and strikeouts. More recently, the Indians have homegrown some of the greatest current players like C.C. Sabathia and Cliff Lee both getting their start in the big leagues with the Indians.

The 1990s saw a renaissance in Indians baseball. Led by some of the top Indians players ever like Albert Belle, Manny Ramirez, Sandy Alomar Jr., and Jim Thome, the Indians went to two World Series and went to the playoffs almost every year from 1995-2001 (2000 was the exception). These players are considered some of the best sluggers in Indians history.&nbsp;

Andrés Galarraga

This is a list of the greatest Colorado Rockies ever. Calling Denver its home, the Colorado Rockies have been bashing baseballs into the thin Rocky Mountain air since 1993. In the franchise&#39;s brief history, the Rockies have qualified for the National League playoffs four times with 2007 serving as the high water mark. Winning 21 of 22 games to make the playoffs, the Rockies&#39; improbable run landed them a berth in its first World Series, but were swept by the Boston Red Sox. Not surprisingly, the <a href="/crowdranked-list/the-greatest-baseball-players-of-all-time" target="_blank">greatest MLB players</a> in Rockies history are position players. Pitchers have a tough time at Coors Field due to the low air density at such a high elevation, which has allowed for hitters to thrive.

Todd Helton is known as one of the greatest Rockies of all time, having been with the franchise since his call up in 1997. Known as one of the steadiest hitters in the game, Helton consistently put up big numbers both at Coors Field and on the road. Helton is a five-time All Star, a three-time Silver Slugger winner and a three-time Golden Glove winner. His number 17 will surely be retired when his playing days finish. Though he didn&#39;t start his career in Colorado, Larry Walker is one of the greatest players to put on a Rockies uniform. Winning the National League MVP award in 1997, Walker hit .366 with 49 home runs, 130 RBI, 33 stolen bases, and 409 total bases. Additionally, Walker won three batting titles and was named to four All Star teams during his nine and a half seasons in Colorado. While Helton and Walker are certainly some of the best Rockies players, current stars like Nolan Arenado and Trevor Story are quickly becoming some of the top names associated with the franchise&mdash;and both had a mjaor hand in bringing the Rockies to the 2018 MLB postseason.&nbsp;

Denny McLain

This is a list of the greatest Detroit Tigers players in team history.The Detroit Tigers are a baseball institution. Formed in 1894, are the oldest continuous one-name, one-city franchise in the American League. The Tigers have won four World Series championships (1935, 1945, 1968, and 1984) and have won the American League pennant 11 times (1907, 1908, 1909, 1934, 1935, 1940, 1945, 1968, 1984, 2006, and 2012). Like other American League teams, the best players to play for the Tigers are generally position players. Some of <a href="http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-greatest-baseball-players-of-all-time">the greatest players in baseball history</a> have played for Detroit.&nbsp;One of the best Tigers ever is Ty Cobb. Say what you want about the guy's demeanor and aggressive mean streak (he is known to have spiked his opponents sliding into bases), but what's indisputable is his stat line. Cobb won 12 batting titles, including nine in a row from 1907 to 1915. He won the 1911 AL MVP award, hit over .400 three times and has a career batting average of .366, a Major League Record.Another big slugger to sport the old English D is Hammerin' Hank Greenberg. The first Jewish superstar in professional sports, Greenberg bashed over 50 home runs in 1938 and won the MVP award in 1935 and 1940. Add five All Star appearances and two World Series championships, it's easy to see why Greenberg is one of the most beloved sluggers in Tigers history. This list of the Greatest Detroit Tigers of All Time also includes stars of today, including Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander. These two players <a class="edS-cl" href="https://www.ranker.com/list/celebrities-when-they-were-25/joswo?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">in their prime</a> are the most dominant position player and pitcher in the game. Joe Morgan

Originally called the Colt .45s, the Houston Astros had been a mainstay in the National League for 50 years. But 2013 saw the franchise move from the NL Central to the AL West, and thus beginning a new chapter in Astros history. From the early 1990s until 2008, the Astros were perennial playoff contenders, reaching the World Series in 2005. Those teams featured many of the greatest players in the team&#39;s history.&nbsp;

To many baseball fans, the Killer Bs, Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio are the best known players from the Astros best years. These players are considered three of the best in Astros history. Bagwell won the 1991 Rookie of the Year and 1994 <a class="edS-cl" href="https://www.ranker.com/list/2020-nl-mvp-predictions/pedro-cerrano?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">National League MVP</a> award. He retired after the 2005 National League Championship season and remains one of the most revered Astros. Biggio, whose entire 20 year career was spent in Houston, eclipsed 3,000 hits during playing days. Accomplishing this feat, along with his rep as the best position player in team history landed him in the Astros Hall of Fame and will soon see him land in the Baseball Hall of Fame in the near future. As for pitchers, Nolan Ryan, Roy Oswalt and Roger Clemens are the best to put on an Astros uniform. While Ryan and Clemens didn&#39;t spend their prime in Houston, they still turned in fine seasons. Oswalt is widely considered one of the best Astros ever and helped propel them to the World Series.

Willie Wilson

This is a list of the greatest Kansas City Royals ever. The 1970s and 1980s were some of the best years in the history of the Kansas City Royals. Established in 1969, the Royals quickly became a powerhouse, making the playoffs in seven of ten seasons between 1976 and 1985. The Royals played in two World Series and won their only championship in a 7-game triumphant over interstate rivals the St. Louis Cardinals. Those teams featured some of the greatest Royals of all time .&nbsp;George Brett is the only player to represent the Kansas City Royals in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Spending 21 years manning third base, Brett is in an elite group of players to accumulate 3,000 hits, 300 home runs, and a career .300 batting average. The other players in this group are Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Stan Musial, all of whom are considered <a href="http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-greatest-baseball-players-of-all-time">the greatest players in baseball history</a>. To date, Brett is the only player in MLB history to win a batting title in three different decades.Traditionally, the Royals have had outstanding pitching. Bret Saberhagen, David Cone, Mark Gubicza, and Dan Quisenberry are among the best pitchers who have played for the Royals. This is a list of the greatest Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim players .The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (formerly the California and Anaheim Angels) have had a star-crossed history. The team has managed to attract top talent in its past, but these stars have been either a wee bit or entirely past their prime. But that doesn't mean the team hasn't had it's fair share of great players. In 2002, the Angels surprised many when they not only had a great season, but also won the franchise's only World Series title.Many of the greatest Angels players have been homegrown, with a few exceptions along the way. Tim Salmon is one of the best Angels of all time. The rightfielder spent his entire career in Anaheim and won the 1993 American League Rookie of the Year and the 2002 Comeback Player of the Year after a subpar campaign the year before. Salmon holds the Angels record for home runs and had over 1,000 RBis in his career.&nbsp;Another homegrown player is Mike Trout. In his first season, Trout took the league by storm. He led the league in several statistical categories, including runs scored, stolen bases with 49, and a WAR (wins over replacement) with a 10.4 mark. He won the American League Rookie of the Year and finished second to Miguel Cabrera in the MVP voting. The rare five-tool player, Trout represents what should be a bright future for the team and is already in talks to be one of the best Angels ever.The greatest players in Angels history fill out this list. Gil Hodges

This is a list of the greatest Los Angeles Dodgers ever. Since they moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles in 1958, the Dodgers have been one of the most successful Major League teams. Despite an array of talent and teams that featured some of <a href="http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-greatest-baseball-players-of-all-time">the best players of all time</a>, the Dodgers won only one championship during its nearly 70 years in Brooklyn. The team made up for lost time and has won five championships since it moved west.Besides being known as the most important player in Major League history when he broke the color barrier in 1947, Jackie Robinson is one of the best Dodgers players ever. Outside of his off the field achievements, Robinson was a six-time All Star who played in six World Series and was a key contributor to the 1955 championship squad. Robinson was a rare talent who combined good instincts at the plate with speed and outstanding fielding. When he retired in 1956 after 10 seasons in Dodger Blue, Robinson was considered one of the greatest Dodgers of all time.Sandy Koufax is one of the greatest players of the Dodgers' Los Angeles period. Koufax is one of <a href="http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/greatest-pitchers-of-all-time">the best pitchers in baseball history</a>. Koufax was the first major leaguer to pitch four no-hitters (including the eighth perfect game in baseball history). Despite his comparatively short career, Koufax's 2,396 career strikeouts ranked 7th in history as of his retirement, trailing only Warren Spahn (2,583) among left-handers. He was the first pitcher to win three Cy Young Awards despite retiring due to arm problems at the age of 29. The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of baseball's storied teams. Josh Beckett

This is a list of the greatest Miami Marlins ever. Since their&nbsp;inception in 1993, somehow, someway, the Miami Marlins (formerly Florida) defied logic and have won two World Series titles. The small market club has its own way of building a winner, even though many of its fans and people within the ranks of MLB don't agree with how its done. The Marlins rely on strong scouting in order to develop players who will eventually compete at the big league level. This organizational philosophy has churned out some of best players in recent years who can count themselves as the best Marlins in history.Although he was only with the team for four years, Miguel Cabrera made a lasting impact on Marlins history. His role on the 2003 World Series champions, with his game winning home run in Game 4 being one of the most memorable moments in franchise history. Oh, and he was only 20 at the time. Cabrera evolved into the best player in all of baseball, but was traded to Detroit in the 2007 offseason.Another hero from that 2003 team was Josh Beckett. As a 23-year-old, Beckett mowed down Yankee after Yankee en route to propelling the team to a six-game triumph. Pitching only on a few days rest, Beckett's performance is considered one of the greatest pitching displays in a postseason game. When Beckett was traded to Boston in 2005, the Marlins received their greatest shortstop, Hanley Ramirez, in the deal.This is the list of the greatest Miami Marlins of all time. Paul Molitor

This is a list of the greatest Milwaukee Brewers in history.&nbsp;The Milwaukee Brewers were originally called the Seattle Pilots, but moved to Wisconsin after one season in the Pacific Northwest. Bought by Bud Selig in 1970, the Brewers spent 29 seasons in the American League before moving to the National League in 1998. Throughout its history, the Brewers have teetered the line between mediocre and contender, with flashes of brilliance in some years. Some of the greatest Brewers of all time played on these memorable teams.Spending his entire 20 year career with the Brewers, Robin Yount is considered by many to be the best Brewers player ever. A first ballot Hall of Famer, Yount had more hits than any player during the '80s with his highest total coming in a memorable 1982 campaign (210) that saw the Brewers reach their only World Series. Yount won a Gold Glove and his only AL MVP award in that same season. Yount is the franchise's current leader in games, at-bats, runs, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs, total bases, walks and strikeouts. This is a list of the greatest Oakland Athletics ever. Founded in Philadelphia in 1901, the team now known as the Oakland Athletics (or Oakland A's) were one of the eight original American League franchises. The team's early years were marked by contending squads and the Athletics won the World Series five times (1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930) during its tenure in the City of Brotherly Love. In 1955, the team left Philadelphia for Kansas City, where the team saw little success. George Thomas Seaver (born November 17, 1944), nicknamed Tom Terrific and The Franchise, was a retired American professional baseball pitcher. He pitched in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1967 to 1986 for the New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, and Boston Red Sox. He played a role in the Mets' victory in the 1969 World Series. With the Mets, Seaver won the National League (NL)'s Rookie of the Year Award in 1967, and won three NL Cy Young Awards as the league's best pitcher. He was a 12-time All-Star. Seaver is the Mets' all-time leader in wins, and he threw a no-hitter in 1978. During a 20-year MLB career, Seaver compiled 311 wins, 3,640 strikeouts, 61 shutouts and a 2.86 earned run average. In 1992, Seaver was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the New York Mets Hall of Fame and the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. In 2019, the Mets renamed 126th Street in front of Citi Field to Seaver Way.

Mike Piazza

Michael Joseph Piazza (; born September 4, 1968) is a former American professional baseball catcher who played 16 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), from 1992 to 2007. He played most notably for the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers, while also having brief stints with the Florida Marlins, San Diego Padres, and Oakland Athletics. A 12-time All-Star and 10-time Silver Slugger Award winner at catcher, Piazza produced strong offensive numbers at his position; in his career, he recorded 427 home runs—a record 396 of which were hit as catcher—along with a .308 batting average and 1,335 runs batted in (RBIs).
Piazza was drafted by the Dodgers in the 1988 MLB draft as a favor from Tommy Lasorda to Piazza's father. Initially a first baseman, Piazza converted to catcher in the minor leagues at Lasorda's suggestion to improve his chances of being promoted. He made his major league debut in 1992 and the following year was named the National League (NL) Rookie of the Year and was an All-Star for the first of 10 consecutive seasons. Piazza immediately impressed with his ability to hit for power and average. His best year as a Dodger came in 1997 when he batted .362, hit 40 home runs, and had 124 RBIs, leading to a runner-up finish in voting for the NL Most Valuable Player Award. In 1998, he was traded to the Marlins and then a week later to the Mets, with whom he spent most of the remainder of his career. He helped the Mets reach the 2000 World Series, the only World Series appearance of his career. After the 2005 season, Piazza left the Mets to play one season each for the Padres and Athletics before retiring after the 2007 season.
Piazza is regarded as one of the best offensive catchers in baseball history. He had at least one RBI in 15 consecutive games for the Mets in 2000, the second-longest RBI streak ever. In 2013, the Mets inducted Piazza into the New York Mets Hall of Fame. In 2016, Piazza was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame as a Met, receiving 83% of the vote.Piazza is owner of the Italian soccer team A.C. Reggiana 1919, which played for two seasons (2017–2018) in Serie C under his leadership before its non-registration due to continued financial troubles.

David Allen Wright (born December 20, 1982) is an American former professional baseball third baseman who played his entire 14-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career for the New York Mets. He was drafted by the Mets in 2001 and made his major league debut on July 21, 2004 at Shea Stadium. Wright was nicknamed "Captain America" after his performance in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.Wright is a seven-time All-Star, a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, a two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and a member of the 30–30 club. He holds Mets franchise records for most career runs batted in (RBIs), doubles, total bases, runs scored, walks, sacrifice flies, times on base, extra base hits, strikeouts, double plays, and hits. He was named captain of the Mets in 2013, becoming the fourth captain in the team's history.
Throughout the latter half of Wright's career, he was plagued by injuries, most notably spinal stenosis, as well as additional ailments in his neck and shoulder. After missing significant time from 2015 to 2018 and receiving word from doctors that his spinal stenosis would not improve, Wright announced that 2018 would be his final season as an active player. Wright finished his major league career with a .296 career batting average, 242 home runs, and 970 runs batted in. Upon completion of his playing career, Wright was named a special advisor in the Mets front office.

Keith Hernandez

Keith Hernandez (born October 20, 1953) is an American former Major League Baseball first baseman who played the majority of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets. Hernandez was a five-time All-Star who shared the 1979 NL MVP award, and won two World Series titles, one each with the Cardinals and Mets.
A contact hitter with a .296 career average and a walk rate of 12.5%, Hernandez's career hitting productivity was 31% above league average. For his defensive work he received Gold Glove awards in eleven consecutive seasons, the most by any first baseman in baseball history. Hernandez is widely considered the best defensive player at his position in the history of baseball.Hernandez retired as an active player after spending one year with the Cleveland Indians in 1990. Since 2006, he has served as a television broadcaster for Mets games on SportsNet New York and WPIX, as well as a studio analyst for MLB on Fox since 2017.

Gary Carter

Gary Edmund Carter (April 8, 1954 – February 16, 2012) was an American professional baseball catcher whose 19-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career was spent primarily with the Montreal Expos and New York Mets.  
Nicknamed "The Kid" for his youthful exuberance, Carter was named an All-Star 11 times, and was a member of the 1986 World Champion Mets.
Known throughout his career for his hitting and his excellent defense behind the plate, Carter made a major contribution to the Mets' World Series championship in 1986, including a 12th-inning single against the Houston Astros which won Game 5 of the NLCS and a 10th-inning single against the Boston Red Sox to start the fabled comeback rally in Game 6 of the World Series.  He is one of only four people ever to be named captain of the Mets, and he had his number retired by the Expos.After retiring from baseball, Carter coached baseball at the college and minor-league level. 
In 2003, he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Carter was the first Hall of Famer whose plaque depicts him as a member of the Montreal Expos.

Darryl Strawberry

Darryl Eugene Strawberry Sr. (born March 12, 1962) is an American former professional baseball right fielder and author who played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, Strawberry was one of the most feared sluggers in the sport, known for his prodigious home runs and his intimidating presence in the batter's box with his 6-foot-6 frame and his long, looping swing that elicited comparisons to Ted Williams'.During his career, he helped lead the New York Mets to a World Series championship in 1986 and the New York Yankees to three World Series championships in 1996, 1998 and 1999. He was also suspended three times by MLB for substance abuse, leading to many narratives about his massive potential going unfulfilled. A popular player during his career, Strawberry was voted to the All-Star Game eight straight times from 1984–1991. Strawberry was formerly an analyst for SportsNet New York. His memoir, Straw: Finding My Way, written in collaboration with author John Strausbaugh, was published on April 28, 2009, by Ecco Press.

Jacob deGrom

Jacob Anthony deGrom (born June 19, 1988) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). Prior to playing professionally, deGrom attended Stetson University and played college baseball for the Stetson Hatters. DeGrom began playing baseball as a shortstop and was converted into a pitcher during his junior year at Stetson. The Mets selected him in the ninth round of the 2010 MLB draft, and he made his MLB debut with the Mets on May 15, 2014. That year, deGrom was named the National League's (NL) Rookie of the Month twice, and the NL Rookie of the Year. In 2015, 2018, and 2019 deGrom was selected as an MLB All-Star. In 2018, deGrom was the NL ERA leader and won the Cy Young Award. In 2019, he led the NL in strikeouts and won the Cy Young Award for the second year in a row.

Dwight Gooden

Dwight Eugene "Doc" Gooden (born November 16, 1964), nicknamed "Dr. K", is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played 16 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). Gooden pitched from 1984 to 1994 and from 1996 to 2000 for the New York Mets, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In a career spanning 430 games, he pitched ​2,800 2⁄3 innings and posted a win–loss record of 194–112, with a 3.51 earned run average (ERA), and 2,293 strikeouts.
Gooden made his MLB debut in 1984 for the Mets and quickly established himself as one of the league's most talented pitchers; as a 19-year-old rookie, he earned the first of four All-Star selections, won the National League (NL) Rookie of the Year Award, and led the league in strikeouts. In 1985, he won the NL Cy Young Award and achieved the pitching Triple Crown, compiling a 24–4 record and a league-leading 1.53 ERA, 268 strikeouts, and 16 complete games. The following season, he helped the Mets win the 1986 World Series. Gooden remained an effective pitcher in subsequent years, but his career was ultimately derailed by cocaine and alcohol addiction. After posting a losing record in each season from 1992 to 1994, Gooden was suspended for the 1995 season after a positive drug test while serving a prior suspension. As a member of the Yankees in 1996, Gooden pitched a no-hitter and helped the team on its path to a World Series championship. He pitched four additional years for as many teams, but never approached the success of his peak years with his Mets. In 2010, Gooden was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame.
Gooden's troubles with addiction continued after his retirement from baseball and resulted in several arrests. He was incarcerated for seven months in 2006 after violating the terms of his probation.

Jerry Koosman

Jerome Martin Koosman (born December 23, 1942) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox, and Philadelphia Phillies between 1967 and 1985. Koosman is best known as a member of the Miracle Mets team that won the 1969 World Series.

Frank Edwin "Tug" McGraw, Jr. (August 30, 1944 – January 5, 2004) was an American professional baseball relief pitcher and the father of country music singer and actor Tim McGraw. As a Major League Baseball (MLB) player, Tug McGraw is often remembered for coining the phrase, "Ya Gotta Believe", which became a popular rallying cry for the New York Mets teams of the mid-60s and early 70s, and for recording the final out, via a strikeout of the Kansas City Royals' Willie Wilson, in the 1980 World Series, thereby bringing the Philadelphia Phillies their first world championship. He was the last active big league player to have played under legendary manager Casey Stengel.

David Cone

David Brian Cone (born January 2, 1963) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher, and current color commentator for the New York Yankees on the YES Network and WPIX. A third round draft pick of the Kansas City Royals in 1981 MLB Draft, he made his MLB debut in 1986 and continued playing until 2003, pitching for five different teams.  Cone batted left-handed and threw right-handed.
Cone pitched the sixteenth perfect game in baseball history in 1999. On the final game of the 1991 regular season, he struck out 19 batters, tied for second-most ever in a game. The 1994 Cy Young Award winner, he was a five-time All-Star and led the major leagues in strikeouts each season from 1990–92. A two-time 20 game-winner, he set the MLB record for most years between 20-win seasons with 10.
He was a member of five World Series championship teams – 1992 with the Toronto Blue Jays and 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000 with the New York Yankees. His 8–3 career postseason record came over 21 games and 111 innings pitched, with an earned run average (ERA) of 3.80; in World Series play, his ERA was 2.12.Cone is the subject of the book, A Pitcher's Story: Innings With David Cone, by Roger Angell. Cone and Jack Curry co-wrote the autobiography Full Count: The Education of a Pitcher, which was released in May 2019 and made the New York Times Best Seller list shortly after its release.

Rusty Staub

Daniel Joseph "Rusty" Staub (April 1, 1944 – March 29, 2018) was an American professional baseball right fielder, designated hitter, and first baseman. He played in Major League Baseball for 23 years with five teams. He was an original member of the Montreal Expos and the team's first star; though the Expos traded him after only three years, his enduring popularity led them to retire his number in 1993.

Edgardo Alfonzo

Edgardo Antonio Alfonzo (born November 8, 1973), nicknamed Fonzie, is a former Major League Baseball infielder who is currently the manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones. Alfonzo spent the majority of his 12-year playing career with the New York Mets, with whom he played in the 2000 World Series. Alfonzo's 29.7 wins above replacement (WAR) as a Met place him as the seventh most valuable player in franchise history.

Tommie Lee Agee (August 9, 1942 – January 22, 2001) was a Major League Baseball center fielder. He is noted for making two of the greatest catches in World Series history, both of which took place in game three of the 1969 World Series.

Ron Darling

Ronald Maurice Darling Jr. (born August 19, 1960) is an American former right-handed starting pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for the New York Mets, Montreal Expos, and Oakland Athletics. Darling currently works as a color commentator for national baseball coverage on TBS, as well as for the Mets on both SNY and WPIX; he also co-hosts several MLB Network programs.
During his 13-year career, Darling amassed a 136–116 won-loss record, with 13 shutouts. He had 1,590 strikeouts and a 3.87 ERA. In 1985, he was picked for the All-Star team.
Darling had five pitches in his repertoire: the slider, a curveball, a circle changeup, a splitter, and a four seam fastball. In the beginning of his career, Darling's weak point was control, and he finished three seasons in the top four in base on balls; as his career progressed, his control improved considerably. He was considered one of the better fielding pitchers of the time and won a Gold Glove Award in 1989. Darling had one of the best pickoff moves among right-handers. An above-average athlete, he was sometimes used as a pinch runner. In 1989, he hit home runs in two consecutive starts.

Cleon Joseph Jones (born August 4, 1942) is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a left fielder. Jones played most of his career for the New York Mets and in 1969 caught the final out of the "Miracle Mets" World Series Championship over the Baltimore Orioles.

Gerald Wayne Grote (born October 6, 1942) is an American former professional baseball player. He was a two-time All-Star for the National League and is regarded as one of the best defensive catchers of his era.

Sid Fernandez

Charles Sidney Fernandez (born October 12, 1962), is an American former professional baseball left-handed pitcher, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies, and Houston Astros, from 1983 to 1997.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Fernandez was proud of his roots and wore uniform number 50 in honor of Hawaii being the 50th state. The theme song to Hawaii Five-O was often played before his starts at Shea Stadium during his days with the Mets.
Fernandez had an unorthodox pitching motion with a hesitation at the end followed by a sudden slingshot sidearm delivery. This deceptive motion, coupled with an effective curveball and a rising fastball, made him a major strikeout threat throughout his career. Fernandez' strikeouts were often commemorated by Mets fans in the outfield upper deck with taped signs marked with the letter S for Sid.
While Fernandez was popular with Mets fans, his critics point out that his statistics were much better in pitcher-friendly Shea Stadium. Every season from 1986 to 1991, excluding 1989, his earned run average (ERA) was at least two runs higher on the road than at Shea.
Fernandez has the fourth-lowest ratio of hits per innings pitched in the major league history, behind only Nolan Ryan, Clayton Kershaw, and Sandy Koufax.<

Gilbert Ray Hodges, ne Hodge (April 4, 1924 – April 2, 1972) was an American Major League Baseball (MLB) first baseman and manager who played most of his 18-year career for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. He was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame in 1982.
Hodges is generally considered to be the best defensive first baseman of the 1950s. He was an All-Star for eight seasons and a Gold Glove Award winner for three consecutive seasons. Hodges and Duke Snider are the only players to have the most home runs or runs batted in together during the decade with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Hodges was the National League (NL) leader in double plays four times and in putouts, assists and fielding percentage three times each. He ranked second in NL history with 1,281 assists and 1,614 double plays when his career ended, and was among the league's career leaders in games (6th, 1,908) and total chances (10th, 16,751) at first base.
Hodges also managed the New York Mets to the 1969 World Series title over the favored Baltimore Orioles, one of the greatest upsets in Fall Classic history.In 2014, Hodges appeared for the second time as a candidate on the National Baseball Hall of Fame's Golden Era Committee election ballot for possible Hall of Fame consideration in 2015. He and the other candidates all missed getting elected. The committee meets and votes on ten candidates selected from the 1947 to 1972 era every three years.

Howard Johnson

Howard Michael Johnson (born November 29, 1960), nicknamed HoJo (the nickname of the otherwise unrelated Howard Johnson's company), is a former Major League Baseball third baseman. He played for the Detroit Tigers, New York Mets, Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs from 1982 to 1995. He is third on the Mets' all-time lists for home runs, runs batted in, doubles, and stolen bases. He also played for the Rockland Boulders of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball. On July 13, 2007, he was promoted from his position as the Mets' first base coach to their hitting coach which he held  until the end of the 2010 season. From 2014 to June 2015, he was the hitting coach of the Seattle Mariners after starting 2013 as the batting instructor for the Tacoma Rainiers, the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate.

Jesse Orosco

Jesse Russell Orosco (born April 21, 1957) is a former relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who holds the major league record for career pitching appearances, having pitched in 1,252 games. He pitched most notably for the New York Mets in the 1980s and made the NL All-Star team in 1983 and 1984. He won a World Series in 1986 with the Mets and in 1988 with the Dodgers. He threw left-handed, but batted right-handed. He retired in 2003 after having been with the Mets, Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, and Minnesota Twins. He retired when he was 46 years old, one of the oldest players to still be playing in the modern age. Orosco is one of only 29 players in baseball history to date to have appeared in Major League games in four decades.
Orosco's longevity was greatly aided by the increasing use of left-handed specialist relief pitchers from the 1990s onward; in his last several years, he was used almost exclusively in this role.

Carlos Beltrán

Carlos Chester Beltrán (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈkaɾloz βelˈtɾan]; born April 24, 1977) is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1998 to 2017 for the Kansas City Royals, Houston Astros, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, and Texas Rangers.  A right-handed thrower and switch hitter, Beltrán stands 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 m) tall and weighs 215 pounds (98 kg).
Beltrán was the American League (AL) Rookie of the Year in 1999 while with the Royals. He was named to nine MLB All-Star Games, and won three Gold Glove Awards and two Silver Slugger Awards.  Beltrán was the fifth player to reach both 400 home runs and 300 stolen bases and just the fourth switch hitter with 400 home runs.  He has the highest success rate in stealing bases (88.3%) of any major league player with 300 or more career attempts.  He is also a member of the 30–30 club, as he has hit 30 home runs and stolen 30 bases in the same season. Beltrán retired after the 2017 season, winning a World Series title with the Houston Astros.
Beltrán is among the best all-time statistical hitters in postseason games, which has earned him nicknames such as "the new Mr. October", "Mr. October, Jr.", "Señor Octubre", and "the real Mr. October" from the media. He broke the 1.000 OPS mark in four different playoff series. Beltrán also had a 100% stolen base percentage (11-for-11) during the playoffs, which are the most stolen bases without being caught.

Mookie Wilson

William Hayward "Mookie" Wilson (born February 9, 1956) is a former Major League Baseball outfielder and coach remembered as the Met who hit the ground ball that rolled through Bill Buckner's legs in the bottom of the 10th inning of game six of the 1986 World Series.A switch hitter with excellent speed, his positive attitude and hustle immediately endeared him to a New York Mets fan base with precious few stars to root for when he first came up in the early 1980s. He was enshrined in the New York Mets Hall of Fame in 1996.

Pete Alonso

Peter Morgan Alonso (born December 7, 1994) is an American professional baseball first baseman for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut during the 2019 season and became the first Mets player to hit 50 or more home runs in a season. In doing so, he set the Mets' single-season home run record and also set the major league record for most home runs by a rookie in a season, breaking Aaron Judge’s previous record of 52 home runs. The New York Mets selected Alonso in the second round, with the 64th pick overall, of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. He signed with the Mets for a $909,200 signing bonus, and spent 2016 with the Brooklyn Cyclones of the Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League, where he posted a .322 batting average with five home runs and 21 RBIs in thirty games. Alonso made the Mets Opening Day roster in 2019 as the starting first baseman. Alonso was in the team's starting lineup on Opening Day on March 28.

Alois Terry Leiter (; born October 23, 1965) is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) left-handed starting pitcher.  Leiter pitched 19 seasons in the Major Leagues for New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, Florida Marlins, and New York Mets.  He is now a studio analyst for MLB Network, and formerly a color commentator for the YES Network and 2016 Marlins Fox Sports Florida game analyst.
