The Best Hip Hop Groups of All Time

Voting Rules
Vote on what crew you think deserves to be considered the best in hip hop

The overall best hip hop groups all offer an impressive roster of individual rappers, but which hip hop crew is the absolute best? Is it fair to compare the legends like Run-D.M.C. and N.W.A. to G-Unit and Wu-Tang Clan? Will D12 and Public Enemy ever get the respect that Tha Dogg Pound gets? Is Flipmode Squad better than Bone Thugs-N-Harmony? Sound off hip hop fans by voting below for the hip hop groups you feel has the best hip hop collectives.

Hip hop music rose to prominence first in the 1970s when groups like The Sugarhill Gang became quite popular. The sounds evolved in the decades that followed with groups like Public Enemy (Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Professor Griff, DJ Lord and The S1W), Run-D.M.C. (Joseph "Run" Simmons, Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels and Jason "Jam-Master Jay" Mizell) and the Beastie Boys (Mike D, MCA and Ad-Rock) dominating the 1980s and ushering in the top 1990s groups like N.W.A. (Arabian Prince, DJ Yella, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube and MC Ren) and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (Layzie Bone, Flesh-n-Bone, Bizzy Bone, Krayzie Bone and Wish Bone). All of those rap groups laid the foundation for hip hop music but does that give them the right to be ranked above newer and perhaps more talented groups that followed?

If you're judging hip hop crews by their sheer number of talented members, the Wu-Tang Clan is certainly among the best. Stacked with rappers like RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa and Ol' Dirty Bastard, the Wu-Tang Clan is easily one of the best rap groups ever.

So whether you're a fan of the likes of Eminem, Bizarre, Proof, Mr. Porter, Swifty McVay and Kuniva in D12 or simply Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter and Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson from The Roots or anywhere in between, tell us which is the greatest hip hop group of all time by voting for your favorite or adding your top group below!
