Vacationing in cities may not be as restful as spending a week or two out by the lake, and it may not always be the best option for families, but does bring its own pleasures. Major American cities all offer their own unique culture and atmosphere, and many have intriguing sub-cultures and fascinating neighborhoods to explore. Some of the best times exploring new cities can be spent investigating the local arts district, trying out a trendy new restaurant or wandering around a newly-developed area, in addition to the more traditional museum, zoo, and shopping excursions. All these criteria help determine the top vacation cities in the the US.

Your votes will determine the best cities for vacation time. The US cities on this list include some of the most populated, as well as some out of the way destinations. It's a crowdranked list, so help improve it by voting on your favorite cities for vacations, or make your own list to suggest some more cities no one else has included yet!
