Hackensack

Hackensack is a city in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States, and serves as its county seat. It was officially named New Barbadoes Township until 1921, though it was informally known as Hackensack. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city's population was 43,010, reflecting an increase of 333 from the 42,677 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 5,628 from the 37,049 counted in the 1990 Census.
An inner suburb of New York City, Hackensack is located approximately 12 miles northwest of Midtown Manhattan and about 7 miles from the George Washington Bridge. From a number of locations, one can see the New York City skyline.
The Metropolitan Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University borders the Hackensack River in both Hackensack and Teaneck. Hackensack is also the home of the New Jersey Naval Museum and the World War II submarine USS Ling. Astronaut Walter Schirra is perhaps Hackensack's most famous native son.
The city is known for a great diversity of neighborhoods and land uses existing in very close proximity to each other.

Englewood

Englewood is a city located in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city had a total population of 27,147, reflecting an increase of 944 from the 26,203 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,353 from the 24,850 counted in the 1990 Census.
Englewood was incorporated as a city by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 17, 1899, from portions of Ridgefield Township and the remaining portions of Englewood Township. With the creation of the City of Englewood, Englewood Township was dissolved. An earlier referendum on March 10, 1896, was declared unconstitutional.

Trenton

Trenton is the capital city of the U.S. state of New Jersey and the county seat of Mercer County. The city is considered to be within the New York metropolitan area by the United States Census Bureau, but directly borders the Philadelphia metropolitan area and is part of the Federal Communications Commission's Philadelphia Designated Market Area. As of the 2010 United States Census, Trenton had a population of 84,913, making it the state's 10th-largest municipality. The Census Bureau estimated that the city's population was 84,349 in 2013.
Trenton dates back at least to June 3, 1719, when mention was made of a constable being appointed for Trenton, while the area was still part of Hunterdon County. Boundaries were recorded for Trenton Township as of March 2, 1720, a courthouse and jail were constructed in Trenton around 1720 and the Freeholders of Hunterdon County met annually in Trenton. Trenton became New Jersey's capital as of November 25, 1790, and the City of Trenton was formed within Trenton Township on November 13, 1792. Trenton Township was incorporated as one of New Jersey's initial group of 104 townships by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798.

Tenafly

Tenafly is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 census, the borough's population was 14,488, reflecting an increase of 682 from the 13,806 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 480 from the 13,326 counted in the 1990 Census. Tenafly is a suburb of New York City.
The first European settlers in Tenafly were Dutch immigrants, who began to populate the area during the late 17th century. The name "Tenafly" itself is derived from the early-modern Dutch phrase "Tiene Vly" or "Ten Swamps" which was given by Dutch settlers in 1688. Other derivations cite a Dutch language connection to its location on a meadow.
Tenafly was incorporated as a borough on January 24, 1894, by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature from portions of the now-defunct Palisades Township, based on the results of a referendum held the previous day. The borough was the first formed during the "Boroughitis" phenomenon then sweeping through Bergen County, in which 26 boroughs were formed in the county in 1894 alone.
New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked Tenafly as the 7th best place to live in New Jersey in its 2013 rankings of the "Best Places To Live" in New Jersey.

Cresskill

Cresskill is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 8,573, reflecting an increase of 827 from the 7,746 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 188 from the 7,558 counted in the 1990 Census. This town got its name from "Cress", referring to the watercress which grew in its streams, and "Kill", referring to the stream passing through.
Cresskill was incorporated as a borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on May 8, 1894, from portions of Palisades Township. The borough was formed during the "Boroughitis" phenomenon then sweeping through Bergen County, in which 26 boroughs were formed in the county in 1894 alone. A portion of the borough was annexed by Alpine in 1904.
Railroads provided access from Cresskill to customers in New York City, including a chicken hatchery that was the world's largest by 1897. Railroad access helped make Cresskill the home of Camp Merritt, the major debarkation point for more than a million American troops being sent abroad to fight in World War I.

Cherry Hill

Cherry Hill is a township in Camden County, New Jersey, in the United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township had a population of 71,045, reflecting an increase of 1,080 from the 69,965 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 617 from the 69,348 counted in the 1990 Census. As of 2010, the township was the state's 15th most-populous municipality and the second-largest in Camden County, after having been the state's 13th most-populous municipality as of the 2000 Census.
Cherry Hill is in the Delaware Valley coastal plain about eight miles southeast of Philadelphia. Cherry Hill is considered an edge city of Philadelphia.

Newark is the largest city in the U.S. state of New Jersey, and the county seat of Essex County. One of the nation's major air, shipping, and rail hubs, the city had a population of 277,140 in 2010, making it the nation's 67th most-populous municipality, after being ranked 63rd in the nation in 2000.

Roseland is a borough in western Essex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 5,819, reflecting an increase of 521 from the 5,298 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 451 from the 4,847 counted in the 1990 Census.
Roseland was incorporated as a borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 10, 1908, from portions of Livingston Township.
New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked Roseland as its 14th best place to live in its 2008 rankings of the "Best Places To Live" in New Jersey.

Teaneck

Teaneck is a township in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States, and a suburb in the New York metropolitan area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 39,776, reflecting an increase of 516 from the 39,260 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,435 from the 37,825 counted in the 1990 Census. As of 2010 it was the second-most populous among the 70 municipalities in Bergen County, behind Hackensack, which had a population of 43,010.
Teaneck was created on February 19, 1895 by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature from portions of Englewood Township and Ridgefield Township, both of which are now defunct, along with portions of Bogota and Leonia. Independence followed the result of a referendum held on January 14, 1895, in which voters favored incorporation by a 46–7 margin. To address the concerns of Englewood Township's leaders, the new municipality was formed as a township, rather than succumbing to the borough craze sweeping across Bergen County at the time. On May 3, 1921, and June 1, 1926, portions of what had been Teaneck were transferred to Overpeck Township.

Jersey City

Jersey City is the second-most populous city in the U.S. state of New Jersey, after Newark. It is the seat of Hudson County, as well as the county's largest city. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 247,597.
Part of the New York metropolitan area, Jersey City lies across from Lower Manhattan, bounded on the east by the Hudson River and Upper New York Bay and on the west by the Hackensack River and Newark Bay. A port of entry, with 11 miles of waterfront and significant rail connections, Jersey City is an important transportation terminus and distribution and manufacturing center for the Port of New York and New Jersey. After a peak population of 316,715 measured in the 1930 Census, the city's population saw a half-century long decline to a low of 223,532 in the 1980 Census, but since then the city's population has grown, with the 2010 population reflecting an increase of 7,542 from the 240,055 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 11,518 from the 228,537 counted in the 1990 Census.

Hoboken

Hoboken is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city's population was 50,005, having grown by 11,428 from the 38,577 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 5,180 from the 33,397 counted in the 1990 Census. The city is part of the New York metropolitan area and contains Hoboken Terminal, a major transportation hub for the region. Hoboken is also the location of the first recorded game of baseball and of the Stevens Institute of Technology, one of the oldest technological universities in the United States.
Hoboken was first settled as part of the Pavonia, New Netherland colony in the 17th century. During the early 19th century the city was developed by Colonel John Stevens, first as a resort and later as a residential neighborhood. It became a township in 1849 and was incorporated as a city in 1855. Its waterfront was an integral part of the Port of New York and New Jersey and home to major industries for most of the 20th century. Paterson is the largest city in and the county seat of Passaic County, New Jersey, United States, in the New York City Metropolitan Area. As of the 2010 United States Census, its population was 146,199, rendering it New Jersey's third-most-populous city reflecting a decline of 3,023 from the 149,222 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 8,331 from the 140,891 counted in the 1990 Census. Dumont is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 17,479, reflecting a decrease of 24 from the 17,503 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 316 from the 17,187 counted in the 1990 Census.
The borough was originally formed on July 20, 1894, as the Borough of Schraalenburgh from portions of Harrington Township and Palisades Township, based on the results of a referendum held the previous day. San Bernardino is a city located in the Riverside-San Bernardino metropolitan area. It serves as the county seat of San Bernardino County, California, United States. As one of the Inland Empire's anchor cities, San Bernardino spans 81 square miles on the floor of the San Bernardino Valley, and has a population of 209,924 as of the 2010 census. Montvale

Montvale is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 7,844, reflecting an increase of 810 from the 7,034 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 88 from the 6,946 counted in the 1990 Census.
Montvale was incorporated as a borough on August 31, 1894, from portions of Orvil Township and Washington Township. The borough was formed during the "Boroughitis" phenomenon then sweeping through Bergen County, in which 26 boroughs were formed in the county in 1894 alone. On February 15, 1896, Montvale acquired part of Orvil Township. In 1906, Montvale added further land from Orvil and Washington townships, and in 1912, Montvale added territory from Upper Saddle River. On May 20, 1959, portions of Montvale were passed to River Vale, and on December 9 and 14, 1965, territories were exchanged between Montvale and Upper Saddle River. The borough's name is derived from its topography.

Camden is a city in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. It is the county seat, located directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city had a total population of 77,344, representing a decline of 2,560 from the 79,904 residents enumerated during the 2000 Census, which had in turn declined by 7,588 from the 87,492 counted in the 1990 Census. Camden ranked as the 12th-most populous municipality in the state in 2010 after having been ranked 10th in 2000.

Paramus is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. A suburb of New York City, Paramus is located 15 to 20 miles northwest of Midtown Manhattan and approximately 8 miles west of Upper Manhattan.
