Click here for the news report on this story.
When trying to serve a man named Salvador Rivas with a bench warrant after he failed to show up to court for a misdemeanor offense, the officers (dressed in plain clothes) showed up to Rivas's door as yard workers (really smart). His mother, Piera Tundo, declined their offer to help her with her yard. According to Rivas, the doorbell rang again shortly afterwards, this time with men forcing themselves through the door, and roughing up the woman. Afraid, Tundo tried to hide in her sewing room, but a police officer barged into the room and twisted her arm until it broke.Tundo and Rivas thought it was a home invasion. The department began investigating the incident before a report was even officially filed, and it was hours after the police invaded their home and broke Tundo's arm that they even produced a warrant.
Police Arrest 8 Year Old Autistic Girl
Evelyn Towry, an 8-year-old girl diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism, was arrested for battery and assault of her teachers after being refused to attend a school party.
Towry, pictured about in her favorite cow costume, was ordered by teachers to take it off in order to attend the party. After refusing to do so, teachers detained her in a separate classroom. She tried to leave, but when the teachers forced her to stay, she began to throw a tantrum, causing the teachers to physically restrain her.
The principle called the police, who arrested Towry on charges of battery and assault during her tantrum where she hit, kicked, and spat on teachers while trying to be let loose. Her mother showed up just as she was being taken to the police car in handcuffs.
"She started screaming, 'Mommy, I don't want to go! What are batteries? What are batteries?' She didn't even know what she was arrested for," her mother explained to ABC news. She even took video of the thumbprint bruises on Towry's legs from being restrained by teachers.
Towry was immediately released to her parents and was suspended from school between two and 10 days. Her parents quickly transferred her to another school.
