occult 130+ Famous Wizards, Occultists, and Mystics

A list of famous wizards, both legendary and real wizards, mystics, and occultists. Pictures included where possible. This is a broad list including mystical wizards and sorcerers alongside more mundane, real-life alchemists. Famous occultists such as these could certainly be considered "real-life wizards". While some may equate the occult with Satanism, this is a misnomer. Occultists and mystics are not the same as cultists.

Who are the most famous wizards in the world? Occultists simply study the unknown, bordering on the supernatural; some may even say magic or sorcery. For mystics, white magic vs. black magic is hardly the point, as knowledge is the ultimate goal. Even modern practitioners of witchcraft, wiccans, are benevolent. So, beyond the spells and potions this list of famous wizards is a list of those who sought knowledge of the unknown, you might even call them . . . scientists. The famous wizard names below feature a quick blurb about each historical figure - if you have a favorite, leave a note in the comments!
