There were plenty of excellent 2014 movies but only one film director will take home the Best Director Oscar at the 87th Academy Awards. Films directed by these best director Oscar contenders were all critics' favorites and range from 2014 blockbuster movies to smaller 2014 indie movies. The one thing they all have in common is that they were crafted and put together by some of today's best directors.
Front-runners for the 2015 best director Academy Award include Richard Linklater for the 2014 indie drama Boyhood, Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu for excellent dark comedy Birdman and Angelina Jolie for her adaptation of Unbroken. Other contenders for the best director Oscar include Christopher Nolan for the sci-fi epic Interstellar, Wes Anderson for the indie comedy The Grand Budapest Hotel and four-time Oscar winner Clint Eastwood for American Sniper. Perhaps 2015 will be another year with a female best director Oscar winner. Along with Jolie, Ava DuVernay for the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic Selma and Liv Ullman for the 2014 drama Still Alice are also strong contenders to win best director.Who do you think will take home the best director trophy in 2015?
