Polish up those shoes, it’s time to walk the red carpet. Well, at least watch Hollywood celebrities stroll the press line in all their glitz and glamour. The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards are coming to you live on January 10th. The official nominations will not be announced until December 10th, but it’s never too early to do a little prognosticating. Here are a few early predictions for the 2016 Golden Globe nominations for TV Actor in a Drama.
Update: The nominees for Best Actor, TV Drama were announced on December 10, 2015.
Upon quick glance, this may come down to a two-man race. Will the Hollywood Foreign Press bestow the award to Jon Hamm? The actor just wrapped the seventh and final season of Mad Men, and shut the door on Don Draper, one of the most iconic and complicated characters in television history. Or will Kevin Spacey, who took home the Golden Globe last year, go back-to-back for his portrayal of the devilishly delicious President Underwood on House of Cards? Hamm did win the Golden Globe in 2008 but has since been nominated four times and lost the past four times.
The thing we must keep in mind about award shows, however, is that sometimes the winner is not who you think it’s going to be. Don’t count out Dominic West (The Affair), James Spader (The Blacklist), Clive Owen (The Knick) or Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), who were all nominated last year. And if beginners truly have luck, then Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), could quite reasonably receive nods for their freshmen dramas.Vote up the men who you think were the 2015 Best TV Actors in Drama. Then, watch the Golden Globes on January 10th to see if your favorite actor walks away with the gold statue.
