The Biggest Oscar Snubs of 2018
Academy Award snubs are par for the course when it comes to Oscar season. As what constitutes a snub is somewhat subjective, the subject of what should have been nominated is always hotly debated online and other places. What do you think the Oscar nomination snubs were this year? Vote below to decide.
In 2018, Oscar snubs abounded in a variety of fields. When it comes to directors who were not nominated this year, many people felt the widely popular Wonder Woman - directed by Patty Jenkins - should have received recognition. Veteran director Steven Spielberg also failed to receive a directing nod for The Post. Despite the film being nominated for Best Picture, Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino did not receive the same honor for his directing.
Actors who were not nominated include big names like Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Chastain, and Tom Hanks. Despite taking home a Best Actor trophy at The Golden Globes, James Franco received no nomination for The Disaster Artist - possibly due to misconduct allegations that surfaced before Academy members cast their votes. Other people not nominated for Oscars include Holly Hunter, Ray Romano, and Zoe Kazan.
For the big prize itself - Best Picture - there were also some perceived snubs. Unconventional hits like I, Tonya and The Florida Project were left in the lurch, and popular superhero films like Logan and Wonder Woman also received no love from the Academy.
