Milwaukee Bucks power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was named NBA MVP for the 2018-19 season after leading the Bucks to the best record in the NBA and all the way to the Eastern Conference final. He averaged 27.7 points per game, 12.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists, all improvements over his previous season and in the top 10 in the league in both points and rebounds.
At the start of the season, favorites included past MVP winners like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and 2018 MVP James Harden. Also in the conversation, however, were stars like Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, and even potential sleeper picks like Ben Simmons, Kyrie Irving, and Jimmy Butler.
The three finalists for the 2018-19 MVP award were winner Antetokounmpo, the Houston Rockets' Harden, and the Oklahoma City Thunder's Paul George.
