The field is wide open for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award in 2020. Today’s NBA landscape features faster offenses that can lead to defense getting lost in the shuffle, but the candidates for this award clearly don’t subscribe to that thinking as their defense has been great in recent years.
Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert won the second consecutive of his two DPOY awards in 2019, while other top players currently in the league who previously have won the award include Draymond Green, Kawhi Leonard, and Marc Gasol. Meanwhile, talented All-Stars like Paul George, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid are hoping to win this award for the first time.
So check out the list of NBA Defensive Player of the Year candidates for the 2019-2020 season, and make your predictions for the players you think have the best odds to win the award. Then head over and vote on the top 2020 NBA MVP candidates and the potential Rookie of the Year winners.
