All the candidates for the 2019-20 NBA Rookie of the Year award have something to prove. But the one NBA rookie with the most to prove is Zion Williamson, who established himself as one of the best players in Duke Blue Devils history during his college career and enters the NBA as one of the most anticipated No. 1 overall draft picks in recent memory.
Williamson will be a clear favorite for NBA ROY, but he will not be the only major college prospect ready to make his mark on the league. Former Duke teammates R.J. Barrett, who went No. 3 overall to the New York Knicks, and Cam Reddish, who went 10th overall, will be among the NBA rookies whose rankings put them among the league leaders in important stats categories. Elsewhere around the league, players like Ja Morant, De'Andre Hunter, and Rui Hachimura will be fighting to make sure they are not overlooked for the end-of-year awards.
