Released in 1998, the Robert Green book The 48 Laws of Power has become a handbook of sorts for numerous celebrities, each of whom has used the advice in the book for their own gain. The celebrity fans of the Robert Greene book The 48 Laws of Power include a wide variety of personalities such as business executives, rappers, Hollywood producers, athletes and more.
As the title suggests, The 48 Laws of Power outlines 48 guidelines that can be used to gain wealth, fame and of course power. The book, which has sold more than one million copies, has been compared to Sun-Tzu's The Art of War and Niccolo Machiavelli's The Prince.
While many celebrities have sang the praises of the book, like the rappers who quote the laws in their music, others have taken a step further and contracted Robert Greene as their own personal advisors.
Perhaps most notably, Dov Charney, CEO for the Los Angeles clothing company American Apparel Inc., was so enamored with the work that he first gave Greene a $30,000 per year retainer to provide advice on demand. This relationship later grew to Greene joining the board of American Apparel, on which he is now called "a voice of reason."
Be it for getting ahead in the rap game, improving their business or ruling a small country, these celebrities have all taken Robert Greene's The 48 Laws of Power to heart with fabulous results.1
