Maybe we were all freaked out about Y2K and decided to just lose it on famous people, or maybe a bunch of the crazy stuff on this list of celebrity rumors from the 1990s actually happened. You probably know a few of these rumors by heart. Specifically Marilyn Manson having one of his ribs removed so he could uh... well you know what he was rumored to be up to. But some of the '90s celebrity rumors on here are totally out of left field, and it’s kind of surprising that they weren’t more prominent. Which of these rumors are fake, and more importantly, which ones are real? Decide for yourself then tell us what you think.
Even though any yahoo with an internet connection can get online and make up a story about a star these days, the celebrity gossip of the '90s was brilliant. There were rappers coming back from the dead, secret gay affairs, and pop stars trying to live forever. They just don’t make celebrity gossip like they did in the good old days.
There was a weird time in all our lives when Angelina Jolie was married to Billy Bob Thornton, and the weirdest part was that we all knew she wore a vial of his blood around her neck. Was this the proof we needed that Jolie was a vampire? Nope.
Turns out it wasn't even a vial, it was just a locket with a smear of blood on the inside. Somehow that's almost more weird.
Even though she was starring on the hit series Ally McBeal, Calista Flockhart couldn't shake the rumors of her anorexia. So much so that she feels the rumors negatively impacted her career.
The '90s were rife with weird stories about Michael Jackson and all the nuts stuff he did. Supposedly, in an effort to help him live longer, he slept in a hyperbaric chamber. Oddly enough, this story is kind of true.
One of the biggest hits of the '90s, "You Oughta Know" has a very memorable line about Alanis Morissette performing a sexual act on someone in a theater. When the public learned that Alanis had dated Dave Coulier, or Uncle Joey to you, rumors spread like wildfire that the song was about Coulier.
Ten years later he said that he didn't want to be the "a-hole" guy the song is actually about.
When the "...Baby One More Time" singer made her way from Disney to the world stage, people immediately assumed she was a plastic surgery nightmare. Unfortunately, this is sort of true. Britney Spears's mother allowed her to get breast implants, but she had them removed after her body kept growing.
