While "Tubthumping" became a rallying cry to overcoming adversity, Alanis Morisette's "You Oughta Know" served as an anthem of another kind when it came out in 1995. The lyrics (widely believed to be about Uncle Joey, AKA Dave Coulier) attested to aspects of heartache, while the song itself blended rock and pop elements. "You Oughta Know" won two Grammy Awards.
As a song that hit number one on Billboard's modern rock, mainstream rock, and adult alternative charts, "One Headlight" came out in 1996. Check out the classic video here.
