Although nearly all of the monsters in the Dragon Quest games are memorable, the slime family might be some of the most uniquely designed monsters in video games. All of the slimes in Dragon Quest are based on the endearing teardrop design of the original first Slime, designed by series illustrator Akira Toriyama. They're some of the best creatures you can battle in the game, thanks to their low HP and the high experience points they drop if you manage to defeat a metal slime variant. As the Dragon Quest games progressed and the slime family monsters became more complex, their designs expanded to include compound creatures such as the Metal Slime Knight and Shogum, or complicated and bigger monsters like the Mime Slime, Diamond Slime, or the Slime King.
Not all slimes in Dragon Quest are monsters - little Healix the Healslime is a close companion to the player in Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End. Friend or foe, these are the best types of slimes in the Dragon Quest video games. Vote up your favorites and vote down the slimes you'd rather avoid.
