Superherodom is still-as male dominated as the real world. That's why in the western world of comics, there are many all-male groups and mixed groups of males and females, but rarely any all-female groups. But they do exist, so here are the few that could be counted at this time.
FemforceFemforce remains as perhaps the first and one of the few all-female supehero groups in the world of comics. For a while, it seemed that there was no other. The title has a steady following, which ensures its longevity. Femforce continues to have adventures even to this day, churned by small independent publisher AC Comics.
- Former Batgirl Barbara Gordon developed computer hacking skills and put together a team of superheroes, including Black Canary, Huntress, Lady Blackhawk and more. While some men have guested in the team, the core members of the Birds of Prey are women.
All-Female X-Men TeamTo fill the growing clamor for all-female superhero groups, some writers of the X-Men franchise decided to come out with an all-female lineup of the team. The X-Men have had many strong female characters in their ranks, so it seemed appropriate that the girls finally have their own space.
Fearless DefendersIn the 1970s, Valkyrie had been part of a team called the Defenders. She revived the name and recruited all-female members, the first of them Misty Knight. Sadly, the series was short-lived, canceled after a few months in 2013. Perhaps it was testing the market for Marvel all-female titles.
