List of All Members of the House Lannister from the book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin and the HBO show Game of Thrones. The House Lannister is a prominent house of Westeros. Their coat of arms depicts a golden lion and their motto is “Hear me roar.” The Lannisters also have an unofficial motto of “A Lannister Always Pays His Debts.”

Who is the most prominent member of the House Lannister? Tywin Lannister tops our list. Tywin Lannister is the head of House Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock and Warden of the West. He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Charles Dance on the HBO show Game of Thrones. Tywin Lannister married Joanna Lannister and has three grown children Jaime, Cersei, and Tyrion Lannister.  He is cold, calculating and will do anything in the name of power.

Joffrey Baratheon is the son of Cersei Lannister and heir of Robert Baratheon.  He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Jack Gleeson on the HBO show Game of Thrones. After King Robert dies in a drunken hunting accident, Joffrey claims the Iron Throne as his heir. He is evil, sadistic and short-tempered. He dies of poisoning on the day of his wedding to Margaery Tyrell.

Tywin is murdered by his son Tyrion in Season 4, Episode 10, "Children."

Joanna Lannister was the wife of Lord Tywin Lannister and the mother of Jaime, Cersei and Tyrion Lannister. She died before the setting of the Song of Ice and Fire book series and the HBO show Game of Thrones.

Joanna Lannister died birthing her youngest son Tyrion. Tywin Lannister was devastated by the loss and blamed Tyrion for the death of Joanna.

Tytos Lannister

Tytos was Lord of Casterly Rock and father of Tywin Lannister. He died before the setting of the Song of Ice and Fire series and the HBO show Game of Thrones.

Tytos was a generous man who did not have the toughness of his son Tywin. He died of a heart attack while climbing the stairs to see his mistress.

Cersei Lannister is the daughter of Tywin Lannister, sister of Jaime and Tyrion, and mother of Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen Baratheon.  She appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Lena Heady on the HBO show Game of Thrones.

Cersei was married to King Robert Baratheon, but her children were secretly fathered by her twin brother, Jaime. After Eddard Stark learns of this secret and confronts the Queen, Cersei aides in the death of her husband Robert and labels Eddard a traitor.

In Season 6, Cersei claims the Iron Throne as Queen.
