Basketball is a game famous for its trash talk and its physical play, from the playground all the way to the courts of the NBA, and that combination can lead to some wild NBA fights between players. The craziest fights of the 2019-2020 NBA season are evidence of that.
Some fights have been a long time coming, like the brawl between Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns, who had a history of trash talking each other during games before they started throwing punches. Other fights seemed to come out of nowhere, like Marcus Morris hitting Justin Anderson in the head with the ball and getting ejected from the game.

Game: Minnesota Timberwolves 95 - Philadelphia 76ers 117

76ers star Joel Embiid and Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns have a history of butting heads, and that history boiled over in the second half of a Philadelphia blowout of Minnesota. After getting tangled up under the basket, Embiid shoved Towns, and Towns threw a punch that missed. They fell to the floor, and Embiid teammate Ben Simmons ran in to hold down Towns before the fight was broken up. Both Embiid and Towns were ejected.
Game: Philadelphia 76ers 109 - New York Knicks 104

Marcus Morris and Joel Embiid, who are both known for their chirpy, aggressive style of play, got tangled up under the basket during a play in the first half of a 76ers-Knicks matchup. As Morris fell to the ground, he grabbed onto Embiid and brought him down with him, leading to a heated exchange, though no punches ultimately were thrown.

Marcus Morris, who has been a magnet for fighting in the 2019-20 NBA season, got tangled up with the Nuggets' Nikola Jokic while on defense, and Jokic appeared to wrap his arms around Morris and hold one for longer than necessary. Morris took a swing at Jokic, who did not back down. Then Morris shoved Jokic and the two had to be separated as they shouted at each other.
Game: New York Knicks 104 - Washington Wizards 99 (preseason)
Date: October 7, 2019
Knicks forward Marcus Morris and Wizards forward Justin Anderson had already been jawing at each other all night during a preseason game between the two teams when Morris took things too far. While Anderson was defending Morris at the 3-point line, Morris swung at Anderson with the ball then hit him in the head. The two were quickly separated, but Morris was ejected from the game for a Flagrant 2 foul.
