Fighting has been a part of the NHL for as long as the league has existed. Considering this, there's likely a great deal of fans out there who watch hockey just to see the best fighters in the NHL really go at it. 

Call 'em hockey goons if you dare, enforcer type skaters are often one of the most popular players on their respective teams both with fans and with their teammates. With that in mind, who are the all-time most feared fighters in the NHL?

Robert Alan Probert was a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. Probert played for the National Hockey League's Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks. While a successful player by some measures, including being voted to the 1987–88 Campbell Conference all-star team, Probert was best known for his activities as a fighter and enforcer, as well as being one half of the "Bruise Brothers" with then-Red Wing teammate Joey Kocur, during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Anthony Rory Twist is a former professional ice hockey player. He played left wing in the NHL for the St. Louis Blues and Quebec Nordiques, but was also a feared enforcer. He now is a co-host in post-game shows after Blues games on Fox Sports Midwest. Twist recently penned a foreword to the Ross Bernstein book The Code: The Unwritten Rules Of Fighting And Retaliation In The NHL. He also owned a chain of bars named Twister's Iron Bar Saloon, with locations in St. Charles and Ste. Genevieve Missouri. Georges Edy Laraque is an athlete, sports commentator and politician. Laraque is currently a member of Norway's Lokomotiv Fana, an ice hockey team in Norway's Second Division. Laraque previously retired from hockey on August 10, 2010 after the Montreal Canadiens bought out his contract, announcing his retirement on his blog. He is a commentator for TVA Sports and most recently executive director of the fledgling Canadian Hockey League Players' Association. During his National Hockey League career, he played for the Edmonton Oilers, Phoenix Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Montreal Canadiens.
