American Sniper Movie Quotes

“American Sniper” movie quotes bring the autobiography of the same name written by decorated sniper Chris Kyle to the big screen. The action-war film was directed by Clint Eastwood using a screenplay adapted by Jason Dean Hall. After a premiere at the American Film Institute Festival, “American Sniper” opened in theaters on December 25, 2014.

In “American Sniper,” the true story of Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) as a highly successful military sniper in Iraq and as a man struggling to be a good husband and father when home in the states is told. Chris, during four tours in Iraq as a member of the SEAL Team 3 in the Naval Special Warfare Command, became the most lethal sniper in American military history with 160 confirmed kills. This gave him quite a legendary reputation both among his own allies, as someone who was always there to keep them safe, and to enemy combatants, who placed a steep bounty on his head.

But aside from his military life, Kyle also struggled with life at home, specifically with wife Taya (Sienna Miller) and their two children. As Chris felt the obligation to serve his country by returning to Iraq, Taya disagreed, citing needing him there for his family instead. This all led Chris to fight two battles, one at home and one abroad.

“American Sniper” is just one of several stellar films in theaters for the 2014 holiday season alongside ”The Interview,” ”Unbroken,” ”The Gambler,” ”The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” ”Annie,” ”Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,” ”Mr. Turner,” "Life Partners," "Comet," "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1," and "Horrible Bosses 2.

Chris Kyle: “I tell you something. These Marines keep rushing in like they’re doing, they’re going to get their asses shot off.”
Marc Lee: “Well, they’re Marines. They don’t get the training we do. Half these guys were civilians six months ago.”
Chris Kyle: “Well, let’s coach ‘em up. I’ll show them how team guys do it. I’ll lead the unit of the street.”
Marc Lee: “No, I can’t do that. We need you on over watch.”
Chris Kyle: “Come on, if I’m on the street, Marc…”
Marc Lee: “House to house is the deadliest job here, man. You got some sort of savior complex?”
Chris Kyle: “I just want to get the bad guys but if I can’t see them, I can’t shoot them.”
Marc Lee: “Look, all these guys, they know your name. They feel invincible with you up there.”
    Chris Kyle: “They’re not.”
Marc Lee: “They are if they think they are. Why don’t you just keep banging on the long gun. We’ll let these dogs sniff out Zarcali.”

Chris pleads with Marc for permission to leave his sniper post in favor of helping the Marines learn the ropes on the ground. Marc denies the request, noting that Chris has become a legend as a sniper, one that gives every other man on the ground a sense of safety knowing he is there watching over them.
