Whether they&#39;re forcing their kids to commit suicide for insurance money or&nbsp;transforming them against their will into man-eating monsters, bad parenting in anime is rampant. In fact, it&#39;s probably more common than good parenting. Let&#39;s learn about the worst parents in anime, and pray that their barbarous parenting techniques never transfer over to the real world.&nbsp;

Some are monsters, some are mannerly, and some occupy the middle of the road. Some anime characters are born with their powers. Others attain them through training. But some characters recieve their powers from outside sources. That doesn&#39;t mean that they don&#39;t have to work hard, of course - in many cases they have to work harder than they ever have in their lives just to be able to tolerate having the power at all, let alone using it to its full potential. These new powers can be granted out of good will, or out of malice, but either way, they change the character&#39;s life.&nbsp;

Great anime characters who were given their powers include Izuku Midoriya, Monkey D. Luffy, Naruto Uzumaki, Nezuko Kamado, Rimuru Tempest, and more. Do you like their newfound abilities?

Few anime characters display the same personality traits at all times, but not all of them change drastically. In some cases though, the change can be pretty stark. One type of character whose personality does a complete 180 are chilled out, nice anime characters who get serious when they have to deal with conflict.&nbsp;

One example of this trope is Hatake Kakashi of Naruto,&nbsp;who is normally a laid back dude who goes totally serious&nbsp;when fighting against enemy ninja. For most people, losing their lives is the worst thing they could possibly imagine - but in anime, there are some things that are worse than that.&nbsp;

Anime characters who suffer a fate worse than death are sometimes immortal, like Joseph from&nbsp;<a class="edS-cl" href="https://www.ranker.com/list/why-you-should-watch-ancient-magus-bride/anna-lindwasser?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">The Ancient Magus</a> Bride&nbsp;or Hidan from&nbsp;Naruto.&nbsp;These characters must endure situations that would destroy anyone else, for eternity. Other characters like Rika Furude of&nbsp;Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni&nbsp;are forced to repeat the same terrible experiences on an endless loop. Others, like Ymir of&nbsp;Attack on Titan,&nbsp;lose&nbsp;their sense of self entirely. All of them suffer immeasurably, to the point where passing away would be a relief.&nbsp;

The fact that a character is featured on this list doesn&#39;t necessarily imply that they shouldn&#39;t be alive - and it&nbsp;definitely&nbsp;doesn&#39;t imply anything about people in the real world who might have gone through more realistic versions of some of these experiences. It just means that what these characters have endured&nbsp;is so horrible that most people would not be able to bear it.&nbsp;

For a genre often associated with beloved heroes like Sailor Moon or Goku, anime often makes their protagonists commit horrible atrocities. Some&nbsp;anime heroes who did something bad have one or two minor transgressions on their rap sheet. Anime protagonists&nbsp;who do terrible things can sometimes be hard to root for, but sometimes&nbsp;their actions serve to tell something larger about the storyline. However, that only provides justification for a few of these immoral anime heroes.

Secrets

The best anime stories create a sense of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/best-thriller-anime/ranker-anime" target="_blank">suspense</a>, often by featuring a character who's harboring a secret. Whether it's a kid who doesn't want anyone to know that he called himself &quot;Dark Flame Master&quot; in middle school, or a bunch of teenagers who join&nbsp;the military without mentioning to the higher-ups that they're actually man-eating monsters, anime characters with secrets have explosive plot potential.Tension builds quickly&nbsp;when viewers know a secret before the rest of the show's cast have any idea what's really going on.&nbsp;Other times, viewers are left in the dark, and get to react with the rest of the cast&nbsp;when the secret drops. No matter what, the unraveling of a juicy secret&nbsp;always makes for a good story.&nbsp;

In the real world, most people won&#39;t live into their hundreds, and those who do aren&#39;t going to get too far into them - and they certainly won&#39;t live to be 200, 500, 1,000, 10,000, or 3 1/2 trillion years old while still looking like a teenager or a&nbsp;twenty-something. Anime characters who are hundreds of years old might defy reality, but that&#39;s part of what makes them so much fun.

Far too many anime series have useless&nbsp;side characters that fans hate and protagonists begrudgingly put with. Many people complain about how they're weak, how they harm the protagonists, or just, you know, serve no purpose at all. Not every villain gets to be that way because they were born evil. In fact, some of the most compelling villains started off as good people - heroes even - but were warped by circumstance into doing terrible things. When viewers first meet these characters, they appear to be horrific monsters with no remorse, but once you get a peek into their backstory, your opinion of them may change - sometimes dramatically.&nbsp;

Obito&nbsp;Uchiha&nbsp;of&nbsp;Naruto&nbsp;may have done some atrocious things, but he also endured immense suffering.&nbsp;His ancestor Madara used to manipulate him into believing that humanity should be destroyed. Revy from Black Lagoon&nbsp;became a mercenary after an encounter with the police taught her that the only person who was going to protect her was herself. Even&nbsp;Cells At Work&nbsp;uses this trope by making viewers cry their eyes out over the backstory of a cancer cell.&nbsp;

Fallen hero anime characters can be some of the most fascinating characters the anime world has to offer. They offer a glimpse into what creates a villain, and how the human psyche processes trauma. Be warned - some of these stories are pretty brutal.

Anime fans don&#39;t exclusively love characters who are good people. In fact, there are a ton of beloved anime characters who are bad people. This doesn&#39;t mean that they&#39;re bad characters - some of them are among the <a href="https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/my-top-10-favorite-anime-characters" target="_blank">best anime characters</a> ever created. What it does mean is that they&#39;ve done some seriously messed up things.&nbsp;

Vegeta is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama. Vegeta first appears as a major antagonist in chapter #204 Goodbye Son Goku, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine on December 19, 1988, seeking the wish-granting Dragon Balls to gain immortality.
As prince of the Saiyans, an extraterrestrial race of warriors that the series' protagonist Son Goku also belongs to, Vegeta is extremely vain, believing he is the strongest and becoming obsessed with surpassing Goku. He later reluctantly unites with the heroes to thwart greater threats to the universe, becoming an antihero, while remaining a rival to Goku. Vegeta's character, particularly his personality, has been well received.

Kyo Sohma

Kyo Sohma is a character in the manga and anime series Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya. He transforms into an orange cat whenever he is hugged by a person of the opposite gender or when his body comes under a great deal of stress. This animal is not in the Chinese zodiac, but legend says would have been if it had not been tricked by the Rat into missing the induction feast. Also, this could be and probably is why he and Yuki do not get along very well. As part of his curse, Kyo transforms into a "monster", resembling a reptilian creature, whenever his Juzu beads bracelet are taken off.
Kyo is usually short-tempered, impulsive, and rude, but that is only one side to this complex character. He doesn't like to show his feelings and is very protective of those he cares for. Naruto Uzumaki is a fictional character in the anime and manga franchise Naruto, created by Masashi Kishimoto. The eponymous protagonist of the series, he is a teenage ninja from the fictional village of Konohagakure. The villagers ridicule Naruto because of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox—a malevolent creature that attacked Konohagakure—sealed in his body. To be recognized, he aspires to become the village's leader, the Hokage. His cheerful and boisterous personality lets him befriend other Konohagakure ninja, as well as ninja from other villages. Naruto appears in the series' films and in other media related to the franchise, including video games and original video animations.
When creating Naruto in the initial part of the series, Kishimoto kept the character "simple and stupid", while giving him many attributes of an ideal hero. Kishimoto added a harsh past to give him a side of darkness. Many times he has revised Naruto's image, providing the character with different clothes to appeal to Western audiences and make him easier to illustrate. Kishimoto changed his design for Part II of the storyline, which starts two-and-a-half years after Part I.
