The final season of Game of Thrones sparked a lot of strong feelings in fans. Some got emotional over the fact that the eight-year story arc was finally coming to its conclusion. Others felt like it ended just the way it should.
For the most part, however, audiences thought Season 8 was wildly underwhelming. The sour reception did not fade with time, and even months after the final episode aired, criticism of the show and its head writers, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, escalated to the point that a subreddit primarily focused on dissing Game of Thrones became the most popular TV subreddit of 2019.
A majority of reactions to the series finale on Twitter were sarcastic comments on abandoned character arcs, memes, and anger at the seemingly random plot devices that rushed the series' conclusion. If you didn't love the ending of Game of Thrones, you're not alone.
