With the new decade of 2020 we're well beyond the concept that cartoons are just “for kids.” There are dozens of new and returning animated series in 2020 that fall into every genre, offering animation for all. This list looks at the best current animated television series that that will be airing new episodes in 2020. Which are the best new and returning action shows in 2020?
Sure, some of the best animated shows airing in 2020 are ostensibly for kids, such as SpongeBob SquarePants or Carmen Sandiego. But that doesn't mean they're not as fun to watch for adults. There are animated sitcoms, like Archer or Bob’s Burgers and even animated science fiction series such as Rick and Morty and Star Wars Resistance. Two of the longest-running animated series - The Simpsons and Family Guy - have spent decades proving that just because a show is a cartoon doesn’t mean they can’t hold their own as evening sitcoms.
