15 Anime Where The Protagonist Is Impossible To Defeat

Updated September 13, 2021 4.5k votes 777 voters 30.9k views15 items

If you ever get transported to one of these anime, make sure you're on the side of the protagonists. You definitely don't want to go up against any of them, because the main characters on this list are virtually impossible to defeat.

There's Alucard, the superpowered vampire/vampire hunter from Hellsing. There's Rimuru Tempest of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, who started off as a powerless slime before ramping up his power so far that he became nearly unbeatable. And of course, there's Saitama, who gained the ability to wipe out anybody with a single punch after a comprehensive workout program.

These characters, and others like them, are proof that supreme power doesn't mean a lack of stakes or conflict. These high-powered characters build tension not by whether they'll defeat their opponents - they probably will - but by what outlandish ability they'll use to do it. Vote up the shows that excite you the most.

    The King's Avatar

The King's Avatar follows Ye Xiu, a former professional gamer who retires from his top position in the game Glory, only to come back as a new character without any sponsorships or a team to help him out. But his ten years of experience, combined with his nearly untouchable skills, make him instantly noticeable. If you want to try out a Chinese anime with a protagonist who is unbeatable in an unconventional way, this is a great choice.

    The God of High School

Based on a webtoon, The God of High school is an anime that follows a group of Korean high schoolers through a tournament that will determine the strongest among them. Protagonist Jin Mo-Ri is introduced as a Taekwondo expert whose childish attitude and fighting obsession has gotten a little out of hand. The reality is different: he's actually the God Sun Wukong (The Monkey King). Defeating him is impossible unless you're also a god or a demon.

He's immortal, super strong, infinitely knowledgable about how to exploit human anatomy, able to learn languages in an instant, and shapeshift at will. All of his powers are enhanced when he enters The Monkey King Mode.

After defeating the Demon King, Akatsuki Ousawa has just returned to Earth from the fantastical world of Alayzard. Accompanying him is Miu, the daughter of the Demon King. In order to live peacefully on Earth, Miu will have to disguise herself as Akatsuki's younger sister. Keeping her secret so that she can lead a peaceful life won't be easy, but luckily Akatsuki has a metric ton of powers to help get the job done.

The most noteworthy of these is Renkan Keikikou, a martial art that grants him a multitude of abilities, including the power to use his ki to send energy bombs towards opponents, heal his allies, and even take control of other people's internal organs. He also rides a supersonic motorcycle that few can control, and can summon a sword called Laevateinn that hardly anyone can wield.

Plunderer takes place in a world where people's lives revolve around their "counts" - that is, a number that measures something important about their lives. If it hits zero, they're hurled into the Abyss. Protagonist Licht Bach is unusual in that he has two counts - one of which is a negative number.

One of them refers to the number of people's heads he's lopped off. That number has shot up to 1,500,000, and could technically reach twice that if he didn't have to worry about activating his bloodlust genes and losing his mind in the process. His powers involve flight, controlling shockwaves, and moving at absurdly fast speeds.
