“Annie” movie quotes bring the classic Broadway musical back to the big screen in a modern adaptation. Produced by the likes of Jay-Z and Will Smith, the musical comedy-drama was directed by Will Gluck using a screenplay he co-authored with Aline Brosh McKenna and Emma Thompson. “Annie” opened in theaters on December 19, 2014.

In “Annie,” the title character (Quvenzhané Wallis) is an orphan living with evil foster mom Colleen Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). A chance encounter with billionaire and hopeful New York City mayor Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) leads Annie to go live with him, with the idea that the positive public relations boost from him taking in this foster child will be enough to win him the election.

But as Annie and Mr. Stacks spend more time together, the develop a real bond from which they both benefit. This, however, is interrupted when Will’s staff members Guy (Bobby Cannavale) and Grace (Rose Byrne) stage an event to reunite Annie with her parents, or at least folks hired to portray her parents in front of the media. Knowing his campaign and future in public office is on the line, Mr. Stacks has a tough decision between letting Annie go, perhaps back into foster care, or keeping her in his home as part of his family.

“Annie” hits theaters just in time for the holidays alongside other films including "Penguins of Madagascar,"Interstellar," "The Theory of Everything," and "Big Hero 6."
