List Rules Only new or returning shows airing new episodes during the 2019 calendar year and featuring a primarily Asian cast.

In 2018, the romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians struck box office gold by bringing in nearly $250 million worldwide. It was the first US movie to have an all-Asian cast in over 25 years, and the film’s success sparked a host of new Asian TV series for 2019. Here’s a look at the best current Asian TV shows.

In 2017, there were only two television shows in the US that featured an Asian American lead: Fresh off the Boat and Master of None. That figure has grown significantly in just one year, and it’s only going to get bigger as more shows with Asian and Asian American casts are added to channel lineups. In November of 2018, Netflix, the streaming service that can be found in 190 countries around the world, announced that it was planning to produce 17 new Asian original series and films from Japan, Thailand, India, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Asians in entertainment are finally getting the spotlight. From comedies to period dramas, here are the best current Asian TV series. Which current Asian TV shows do you love the most or can't wait to watch? Let us know by voting thumbs up or down in the list below.
