This list contains information about athletes who are doctors, loosely ranked by fame and popularity. Several famous swimmers, rowers, and NBA champions are also doctors. Some of these athletes received their doctorates in education, while others earned their medical degrees. One former NFL champion is currently on the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Who is the most famous athlete who is also a doctor? Shaquille O'Neal tops our list. Shaquille O'Neal received his doctor of education degree from Barry University in 2012. He reportedly has plans to continue his education at law school. Olympic gymnast Lise Leveille completed medical school at UBC in Vancouver. In 2014, she started a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas.

NFL champion Alan Page received a Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1978. He currently sits on the Minnesota Supreme Court. Pat Turner won a gold medal for rowing in the 1984 Summer Olympics. He later went on to graduate from the University of B.C. Faculty of Medicine. Pat McGeer competed on the Canadian basketball team in the 1948 Summer Olympics. He is currently regarded as a leading authority on the causes and prevention of Alzheimer's disease.
