Victims Of Murder Attempts Reveal Exactly What Went Down (And How They Made It Out)

These chilling true stories from victims will surprise you with their close-calls and the odd and varied ways they escaped their assailants. Some victims just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but many others escaped from dangerous ex-lovers, extremely disturbed students, and even unstable landlords. Their horror stories feel more like movie plots, but unfortunately for them, it was their reality. However, most of the people recounting their tales of near escapes walked away unscathed - save for a little bit of psychological and emotional damage - from their almost certain fate. Read on for the bizarre and frightening attempts on people's lives that changed them forever.

  • His Classmate Said He Might Let Him Live

    From Redditor /u/millst01:

My freshman year in high school, there was a classmate of mine threatening to shoot up the school. I knew him growing up and we were kind of friends, but not too close. Close enough to say 'hey' but not close enough to ever go over to his house. Throughout school, he was seen as one of the weaker kids, so he was teased a lot. He was the kid who would have small breakdowns when he was just a little too old to cry in school, so for the most part, we would let him quietly cry in the back of the room while the rest of us tried not watch him. But let's be honest, we were all whispering about it.

Beginning high school, he would get large lump sums of money from relatives for his birthday and Christmas instead of gifts. He would ration all that money on Monster Energy over the span of months. I figure he would down three cans per day on average. Some of my classmates were ruthless to him. He was a bit chubby, so some would make low blows to him about his size. It's also important to consider how difficult those early adolescent years are for any kid, let alone someone who was openly mocked on a daily basis.

One morning, before class, I got to school and saw some guys picking on him. I didn't think much of it because this kind of thing happened all the time. I overheard someone say something about a gun. That's when I asked one of the guys talking to him what was going on. The kid being picked on spoke up. He informed me that when he saved up enough money, he would buy a fully armored, metal suit and [take] down his tormentors. What was most bothersome to me was I knew this kid went on hunting trips with his dad, so I knew he had access to [weapons]. He was also very specific about his suit of armor. He gave me a detailed description of how the armor pieces overlapped so there were no weak areas. He had a specific dollar amount too. To this day, I am sure he had done some research and found a specific suit to buy. He said there were specific people he wanted to [harm] first. He listed the names of some of his biggest tormentors. I asked him about everyone else. To this day his response still haunts me. He said it with so little emotion it chilled me to my core. He said, "You will probably live, but a lot of people are going to die."

  • Her Ex-Boyfriend Tried To End Her With A Cup Of Coffee

    From Redditor /u/TheRoseofHannah:

I had a guy I broke up with after about 8 months. He seemed cool with it. Then he called and said he had ordered a gift for me and it was there and could he stop by before work and drop it off. I didn't want to see him but I was young/shallow/stupid and said "sure", figuring five minutes tops. He comes by just as I am finishing getting ready for work. He brings me a cup of coffee and I drink it. Within 20 mins I am vomiting so badly, I know I need immediate medical attention. He offers to drive me to my doctor. I get admitted to the ICU within an hour of drinking this coffee. Two days later, cops show up and tell me that I've been poisoned. Doc's tell me I almost died. Ex-boyfriend? Never seen or heard from again.

  • Assailant Thought The Victim And Bill O'Reilly Were Out To Get Her

    From Redditor /u/They0001:

Because the person was schizophrenic, and got it in her head that me and Bill O'Reilly (yes, that one) were out to get her. So one morning, I walked into the living room, and into an ambush. I tried to run but got shot anyway. .357 hollowpoint.

  • His Buddy's Cocaine Dealer Tried To Send A Hit Man

    From Redditor /u/KwebbelkopMOD:

Drug dealer tried to [get] me.

My buddy had apparently been doing cocaine (ugh, Hollywood). His company went bankrupt and I guess he couldn't pay for everything he had "borrowed" from the guy.

They sent a contract killer to his office. The guy actually failed to go through security in my office and the [hand piece] he had was illegal, so he tried to [take out] the officers, who ended up shooting him [...] Yes, very, very, very scary stuff. I got a little bit famous in the news but then things died down after the dealer was detained.

  • Ex-Girlfriend Tried To Hit Him With Her Car

    From Redditor /u/JDogg_of_RS:

My ex-gf tried to hit me with her car after following me home from work. She missed, luckily, and drove into a light pole. I didn't call 911 or try to help in any way. I ran like hell and got home safe. She ended up going to some psychiatric center soon after, and I haven't heard from her since!

  • Ex-Employee Ruined His Favorite Shirt With Bullet Hole

    From Redditor /u/khegiobridge:

He fired a pistol through my bedroom wall just after I got home; put a hole in my favorite shirt and scared my girlfriend half to death. I should have seen it coming: he threatened me at work, stalked me after work, threatened my girlfriend; but like a dummy, I didn't think it he was serious. Cause: I fired him from his job for threatening coworkers.
