The movie can be as weird and wild as it wants. Because, at the end of the day, The Lego&nbsp;Movie was expected to be bad anyway. So, the best thing to do&nbsp;is embrace that freedom and weirdness and make something unlike anyone&#39;s ever seen before. Normally, that&#39;s probably not going to turn into a standout movie. The greatest ideas are usually the ones that most people think will fail. Nearly every Hollywood insider thought&nbsp;Avatar would become the biggest box office bust in cinematic history. Instead, it became the <a href="https://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/" target="_blank">highest-grossing worldwide release</a> at&nbsp;$2.7&nbsp;billion. Michael Eisner himself wanted to halt production on <a class="edS-cl" href="https://www.ranker.com/list/orlando-bloom-career-history/jacob-shelton?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">Pirates of the Caribbean</a>. Now, it&rsquo;s one of the highest-grossing movie franchises of all time.&nbsp;

The alternate ending sometimes adds to the movie, but sometimes the <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/movie-characters-who-survived-thanks-to-script-change/ashley-reign" target="_blank">alternate ending changes the plot</a> so entirely that it&#39;s good that it was removed to begin with. These alternate endings to famous films are some that could have easily changed the course of the film completely. These movies range from Fatal Attraction to Clerks. to Little Shop of Horrors.

Making movies has never been cheap, but the cost&nbsp;of producing blockbuster films has skyrocketed to astronomical levels over the years.

Movies are produced on&nbsp;all kinds of budgets, big and small, but it&#39;s no secret that the highest-profile movies generally tend to cost the most. Lots of factors play a role, including&nbsp;actors&#39; salaries, lengthy post-production schedules, and marketing;&nbsp;in 21st-century filmmaking, special effects are often the biggest culprit.

As of 2019, these are the 16 movies that, taking inflation into account, are the most expensive ever made.

The most popular comedic characters&nbsp;all have one thing in common - they don&rsquo;t care about anyone but themselves. They put their needs and&nbsp;goals in front of everyone else;&nbsp;too bad if you&rsquo;re in their way.

Oddly enough, that&#39;s the exact same way a killer in a <a href="https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-greatest-horror-films-ever-made" target="_blank">horror film</a> acts. And from the perspectives of the&nbsp;supporting characters, many so-called comedies are actually pretty grim.&nbsp;

Some such films are obviously horrific, but others only reveal their true, macabre&nbsp;nature after you take a closer look. The next time you&rsquo;re watching a screwball comedy, remember the supporting characters are dying inside, terrified of what <a class="edS-cl" href="https://www.ranker.com/list/movie-protagonists-who-arent-the-main-character/zack-howe?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">the main character</a>&rsquo;s going to do.&nbsp;Comedy is all about&nbsp;perspective.&nbsp;

Many films go through a testing process where audiences are shown a rough cut and then asked to give feedback. The classic movies on this list of movies that shouldn't be remade are revered because they are inimitable, yet somehow, movie executives keep dredging their vaults and resurrecting movies that were already brilliant in misguided efforts to make them &quot;better&quot; (well, probably just to make money, let's be real).&nbsp;The scary thing about making a list of movies that should not be remade is the possibility that a decision maker somewhere will see the list and decide it's the perfect place to start looking for new movie ideas. There are sadly some movies, like The Blues Brothers, The Karate Kid, and The Wizard of Oz, that cannot be included on a list of films that shouldn't be redone.&nbsp;What classic movies should never be remade? What film will Hollywood ruin next? These classic films are on this movies that should not be remade list because they were amazing the first time around and don't need to be &quot;improved&quot;. Vote for the movies you could never imagine being inhabited by a new cast and add any great movies that shouldn't be redone that might be missing.

Starship Troopers, Road House, Robocop...&nbsp;it&#39;s likely these films don&rsquo;t bring to mind the phrase &quot;deadpan satire,&quot;&nbsp;but they should. Some of the most brilliant <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/satire-movies-and-films/reference" target="_blank">satirical films</a> of the last five decades aren&#39;t the kind of pictures audiences view as&nbsp;intellectual think pieces, because any&nbsp;writer&nbsp;and director worth her salt knows satire is not broad comedy, like parody, but rather an act of becoming the thing you wish to critique&nbsp;and taking it apart from the inside. Many of these movies are couched in the language of tentpole productions, as a way to quietly communicate with the masses.

Some of these films work better than others, but&nbsp;that&rsquo;s not to say any are bad; some were simply trying to do too much too soon. For instance, 1974&rsquo;s Death Race 2000 predicted the 21st century&rsquo;s preoccupation with audiences voting for the onscreen pain of contestants, but we&rsquo;re just now figuring out how accurate and insightful those predictions are, from a film many dismiss as exploitative nonsense. With others, it&#39;s possible the&nbsp;people making them didn&#39;t even realize their brilliant meta commentaries themselves. &nbsp;

The best self-aware movie satires barely even acknowledge that they&#39;re satires, instead choosing to lean into their genre and let the audience figure it out. Directors like Paul Verhoeven and Brian De Palma have made entire careers out of making films that perfectly play into their audience&rsquo;s sensibilities, while also saying something about the people who paid to see the film and the world around them. Those two maestros have plenty of thoughtful contemporaries in horror, a genre full of movies that <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/horror-movies-with-deeper-meanings/orrin-grey" target="_blank">aren&#39;t about what they seem to be about</a> on the surface.

The story depicts several decades in the life of Forrest Gump, a slow-witted and naïve, but good-hearted and athletically prodigious, man from Alabama who witnesses, and in some cases influences, some of the defining events of the latter half of the 20th century in the United States; more specifically, the period between Forrest's birth in 1944 and 1982. The film differs substantially from Winston Groom's novel on which it was based, including Gump's personality and several events that were depicted.
Principal photography took place in late 1993, mainly in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Extensive visual effects were used to incorporate the protagonist into archived footage and to develop other scenes. A comprehensive soundtrack was featured in the film, using music intended to pinpoint specific time periods portrayed on screen.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is a 1982 American science fiction-family film co-produced and directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Melissa Mathison, featuring special effects by Carlo Rambaldi and Dennis Muren, and starring Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, Robert MacNaughton, Drew Barrymore and Peter Coyote. It tells the story of Elliott, a lonely boy who befriends an extraterrestrial, dubbed "E.T.", who is stranded on Earth. He and his siblings help it return home while attempting to keep it hidden from their mother and the government.
The concept for the film was based on an imaginary friend Spielberg created after his parents' divorce in 1960. In 1980, Spielberg met Mathison and developed a new story from the stalled science fiction/horror film project Night Skies. It was shot from September to December 1981 in California on a budget of US$10.5 million. Unlike most motion pictures, it was shot in roughly chronological order, to facilitate convincing emotional performances from the young cast.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a 1991 American science fiction action thriller film written, produced and directed by James Cameron. The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick and Edward Furlong. It is the second installment of the Terminator franchise and the sequel to the 1984 film The Terminator. Terminator 2 follows Sarah Connor and her ten-year-old son John, who is protected by a less advanced Terminator who is also sent back in time,  as they are pursued by a new, more advanced Terminator, the liquid metal, shapeshifting T-1000, sent back in time to take out John Connor and prevent him from becoming the leader of the human resistance.
