'Adjust Your Personality So They'll Like You More'

    From Redditor u/lordberric:

    Generally putting up a facade.

I've been told to act differently on dates with certain people, like I was told, "She likes quiet people." Like, no, I'm gonna act exactly how I act normally. I don't want to go into a relationship where they don't know the real me.

'Women Want An *sshole. Be an *sshole.'

    From Redditor u/EerieArizona:

From my loser uncle, [who] said, "Beautiful women want an *sshole. Be an *sshole."

I never followed through on that advice and I'm glad I didn't.

'Never Say No To A Date'

    From Redditor u/L_bird:

My mother said that I could never say “no” to a guy for a first date and that I had to always “give him a chance.”

Just made me feel obligated to sit through some of the most painful first dates imaginable.

    'Go For Sad-Looking Women'

    From Redditor u/_RachelMartin:

An elderly man I knew, who had a huge track record at picking up ladies told me to concentrate on unhappy-looking females. Happy-looking females were almost impossible to score, in his perspective.

'Your Partner Can Cheat On Until You're Engaged'

    From a former Redditor

The worst dating advice I've ever received has been that until you're engaged to your significant other, cheating is completely permissible.

I don't know how it differs because I've only received female dating advice. But I know a lot of our advice is physical. It's wild how much time women spend getting ready for a date because they really think the man they're with cares about what color nail polish they wear. We also get a lot of messages that tell us we should act uninterested and play coy.

'Just Break Up With Them; There Are More Fish In The Sea'

    From a former Redditor:

I hate that the answer to every young couple's problems is to break up with him because there are more fish in the sea and you are still young.

If I always break up with a guy the moment a problem comes up or it gets a little difficult, how will I know how to be in a committed relationship when I'm old enough to not be young anymore?
