It's no secret that Darth Vader is one of the most terrifying and powerful villains in all of cinema. But many of the most badass Darth Vader moments are actually nowhere to be found onscreen. Over the years, Star Wars lore has been built up in a massive amount of books, comics, and video games that feature everyone's favorite Dark Lord of the Sith. Even though the Expanded Universe has been abolished in favor of a new cannon, that doesn't mean there aren't tons of great Vader moments in both continuities to enjoy.

Ever wonder how Vader treated his officers? Or how he hunted the Jedi Knights to extinction in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope? What about his starfighter exploits as a Sith Lord? Well, there will be plenty of answers listed. Now, check out the list if you want some vintage Vader you never knew about!

  • Killing All the Rebels Who Shot Him Down

In the Marvel Comics miniseries Vader Down, Darth Vader's Tie Fighter is shot down by the Rebel Alliance. Seeing an opportunity to take out the Emperor's right-hand man, the Rebels throw everything they have against him. Of course, everything they have isn't nearly enough.

  • Beating Darth Maul in a Duel

While it was only a "What If?" scenario, the comics showed off Darth Vader going through a Sith trial. The trial, of course, had him going up against the specter of Darth Maul. After a brutal lightsaber duel, Vader finally defeats him by stabbing himself to skewer Maul at the same time.

  • That Moment He Discovers Luke Is His Son

In Marvel's Star Wars comics, Vader is very interested in Luke. After all, any Force-sensitive kid who destroyed the Death Star is worth looking into. So, Vader employs the services of Boba Fett... who discovers this kid's last name is Skywalker.

Once Vader realizes just how much the Emperor lied to him, he's determined to get back what's his.
