One of Toni Collette’s favorite parts about working on Krampus was the use of practical effects for the creatures. They had a number of puppets on set, and to keep the actors on their toes, director Michael Dougherty didn’t allow them to see the creatures until they were actually face-to-face with them in a scene.

Said Collette of the experience, "They were slimy and scary, and some of them had really active tongues - and they were fun!"
