List Rules Vote up your favorite alien films that were released in the 1960s.

Aside from Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey, the best 60's alien films were usually a little bit more on the campy, cult-following side. There weren't many adventure-driven, terrifying space movies made in this decade, but most of the top films about aliens in the 1960s were designed to make you laugh out loud.

Featured below are the cult classics Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Dr. Who and the Daleks, Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster and They Came from Beyond Space. Each film is delightfully cheesy and campy in its own way. Writer Gore Vidal was responsible for the hilarious script behind Visit to a Small Planet, starring Jerry Lewis. Who knew outer space could be so funny?!
