Are there any good '50s vampire movies? The answer is a resounding yes! Although vampire films were not as common in the 50s as they would be in later decades, some genre-defining vampire movies were produced in the1950s.

The vampire films of the 1950s reflect the anxieties of the times when people worried about the Cold War and feared atomic annihilation. That's why we see many '50s horror films dealing with radiation and aliens. However, one figure loomed large in many of the top '50s vampire films: Dracula.

Based on Bram Stoker's classic novel, Count Dracula enthralled audiences of the 1950s. The perfect villain for the times, with his Eastern European origins and desire to corrupt pure American blood, the Count features prominently in many of the greatest '50s vampire films. Horror of Dracula, directed by Terence Fisher and starring Christopher Lee, is the first Hammer Horror film dealing with the Count, and it spawned numerous sequels over the course of the next two decades. Also on this list, you'll find everything from classic foreign '50s vampire movies like El vampiro - a Mexican film noted for being the first onscreen appearance of a vampire with elongated incisors - to just plain weird cinema artifacts such as Old Mother Riley Meets the Vampire.
