The Best Vampire Movies of the 1970s

List RulesVote up your favorite vampire films that were released in the 1970s.

How many of the top '70s vampire movies have you seen? Take a look at our list of the greatest 1970s vampire films and start crossing movies off the list. There are so many classics to choose from, as '70s vampire movies really captured the essence of the decade. In these movies, you will find themes of isolation, alienation, crisis, and excess. Who better to embody these common threads than the original tragic loner - the vampire?

David Cronenberg, who went on to make Videodrome, The Fly, and Naked Lunch in the '80s and '90s, but he started out making skin-crawling vampiric epics like Rabid in the '70s. George Romero redefined the zombie movie with The Night of the Living Dead in 1968, but in the 1970s, he left an indelible mark on vampire cinema with Martin, the horrifying tale of a wannabe vampire.

Other lesser known auteurs, battling against a financially strained Hollywood, churned out some sinfully good exploitation films. Foreign institutions like Hammer Films continued to churn out vampiric gold. The 1970s also gave us one of the most iconic on-screen Draculas of all time, portrayed by Frank Langella.

This list of 1970s vampire films is yours to rank, so vote up your favorite 70s vampire movies, and vote down the vampire films that you think should be locked away in a Transylvanian castle, never to be seen again.
