One of the exciting things about streaming channels is the wide range of good shows from around the world they provide us access to. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon have expanded the range of shows we watch and how we watch them by acquiring shows and delivering them to our screens in bingeable form. The best acquired series in 2019 are sometimes promoted as "originals" on streaming channels, but they're not new, just new to those channels.
The difference between streaming channel original content and acquisitions isn't much from our perspective - these are all just great new series to watch on streaming in 2019 - but it's also nice to see which networks are making the shows we love. ITV and CBC Television are two networks that streaming services acquire shows from often and it's how we get great shows like Strangers on Amazon Video and Pure on Hulu and WGN, which both premiered in 2017 (on ITV and CBC Television, respectively) freshly repackaged in 2019.
Whether these acquired streaming series will dole out episodes weekly, or allow you to binge a new season all at once varies by streaming service. Some streaming channels even make multiple seasons of their acquisitions available at once! There are pros (no waiting for new episodes!) and cons (there are no new episodes!) to each style but however you watch them, these are the best acquired shows on streaming platforms in 2019. Vote up the best new-to-the-channel series on Hulu, Amazon Video, and Netflix - then add any acquired shows that premiered on a streaming network in 2019 that we might have missed.
