A list of the best Atlanta Falcons of all time. Formed in 1966, the first few decades of the team's history wasn't too promising. The Falcons didn't reach the playoffs until 1978, and had only five playoff berths in its first 30 years. Atlanta has had some of the most entertaining teams in the league with a bunch of superstar players. These Falcons can be considered some of the best players in team history.Beginning in 1989 with the drafting of one of the <a href="http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/best-football-players-ever">best players of all time</a> in Deion Sanders. With &quot;Prime Time&quot; and other great players like Andre Rison and Terence Mathis, the Falcons were <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/best-movies-to-watch-while-drinking/anncasano?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">fun to watch</a>. In 1998, Jamal Anderson powered the Falcons to the franchise's first Super Bowl berth. Though the team lost to the Broncos in Super Bowl XXXIII, it was a turning point for the Falcons. Under Michael VIck, the Falcons reached the playoffs twice. Say what you want about Vick, but he's one of the best Falcons of all time. More recently, Matt Ryan has been at the helm of the most prosperous era in Falcons history. The team spent 49 years in the Windy City before moving to St. Louis ahead of the 1960 season. Those early Cardinals teams features multiple Hall of Famers like Charley Trippi, Ernie Nevers and John &quot;Paddy&quot; Driscoll. The last Cardinals team to win a championship was based in Chicago, and the year was 1947.The St. Louis Cardinals featured some great players as well. Dan Dierdorf is a Hall of Fame lineman who spent his entire 13 year career in St. Louis. The same goes for Hall of Fame tight end Jackie Smith and cornerback Roger Wehrli. These players were some of the best Cardinals in team history. Ottis Anderson is considered one of the greatest Cardinals ever. Though the team made the playoffs only once during his time with the team, Anderson still holds several team records.The Cardinals are currently based in Phoenix, and are now called the Arizona Cardinals. Ray Lewis and Jonathan Ogden were drafted by the Ravens in the first round of that year's draft and are two of the greatest Ravens ever. The duo were the anchors on the Ravens Super Bowl winning team in the 2000 season. Joe Flacco is easily the franchise's best quarterback. Flacco led the team to a Super Bowl victory over San Francisco in 2013 and was named the MVP of that game. With a combination of hitting the jackpot on high draft picks, shrewd trades and a seasoned head coach in Marv Levy, many of the greatest Bills in team history came from the team's most successful seasons during the 1990s.&nbsp;Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Bruce Smith and Andre Reed are considered by many to be the best Bills ever. These players were at the core of the Bills teams that went to the Super Bowl a league record four straight years from 1990-1993. Ultimately, these players never were able to capture that elusive Super Bowl title, The run of success that these BIlls players were a part of are looked back fondly by Bills fans. In 1988, the Bengals last Super Bowl team, the league&#39;s MVP was quarterback Boomer Esiason. Considered one of the great Bengals, Esasion led the team to several playoff berths during his time in Cincinnati. More recently, Chad &quot;Ocho Cinco&quot; Johnson and Carson Palmer are two of the best Bengals respectively, helped lead the team to the playoffs. If not for an injury to Palmer in the 2005 playoffs, that Bengals team may have gone much farther. One of the greatest players though is offensive tackle Anthony Munoz. He is the only Bengal in the Hall of Fame is considered one of the best left tackles in NFL history.

After floundering without Elway, the Broncos picked up another all time great in the form of Peyton Manning. Calvin Johnson

Norm Van Brocklin

A list of the best St. Louis Rams of all time. The Rams have one of the longest legacies in professional football. Beginning in 1937 in Cleveland, the Rams have moved a total of four times. The team has had its fair share of outstanding players on its team as well. The team moved to Los Angeles in 1946 where it stayed until the end of the 1994 season. It was then based out of St. Louis until 2015. A list of the best Houston Texans of all time. Formed in 2002 in the aftermath of the Oilers leaving for Tennessee, the Texans are the newest NFL franchise. The team had some lean years during its early years, but that doesn't Houston has been devoid of great players. One of the best draft picks the Texans made was when they selected wide receiver Andre Johnson with the third overall pick in 2003. Johnson is the team's leader in almost every receiving category the Texans have and was for many years considered the most underrated receiver in football. Now that Johnson has finally gotten his due, he is considered not only a top wide receiver, but one of the greatest Houston Texans of all time.In recent years, the Texans have had success drafting great players. Buck Buchanan

This is a list of the best Kansas City Chiefs of all time. Founded by football pioneer Lamar Hunt, the Kansas City Chiefs were originally the Dallas Texans. Larry Fitzgerald

Larry Darnell Fitzgerald Jr. (born August 31, 1983) is an American football wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL).  He played college football at Pittsburgh, where he earned unanimous All-America honors. He was drafted by the Cardinals third overall in the 2004 NFL Draft.
Fitzgerald has been selected for the Pro Bowl eleven times. He was named First-team All-Pro in 2008 and Second-team All-Pro twice in 2009 and 2011.  As of November 2018, he is second in NFL career receiving yards, third in career receptions, and seventh in receiving touchdowns.

Pat Tillman

Patrick Daniel Tillman (November 6, 1976 – April 22, 2004) was an American football player in the National Football League (NFL) who left his sports career and enlisted in the United States Army in June 2002 in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. His service in Iraq and Afghanistan, and subsequent death, were the subject of national attention when he was killed by friendly fire.Tillman joined the Army Rangers and served several tours in combat before he was killed in the mountains of Afghanistan. At first, the Army reported that Tillman had been killed by enemy fire. Controversy ensued when a month later, on May 28, 2004, the Pentagon notified the Tillman family that he had been killed by a friendly fire incident; the family and other critics allege that the Department of Defense delayed the disclosure for weeks after Tillman's memorial service out of a desire to protect the image of the U.S. military.
Tillman was the first professional football player to be killed in combat since Bob Kalsu, who died in the Vietnam War in 1970. Tillman was posthumously promoted from specialist to corporal. He also received posthumous Silver Star and Purple Heart medals.

Patrick Peterson

Patrick De'mon Peterson Jr. (born July 11, 1990) is an American football cornerback for the  Arizona Cardinals  of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he won the Chuck Bednarik Award as the best defensive player in the country, the Jim Thorpe Award as the best defensive back, and was unanimously recognized as an All-American. He was selected fifth overall by the Cardinals in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Peterson has been invited to the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons in the NFL.

Kurt Warner

Kurtis Eugene Warner (born June 22, 1971) is an American former football quarterback. He played for three National Football League (NFL) teams: the St. Louis Rams, the New York Giants, and the Arizona Cardinals. He was originally signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 1994 after playing college football at Northern Iowa. Warner went on to be considered the best undrafted NFL player of all time, following a 12-year career regarded as one of the greatest stories in NFL history. Warner was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017, and is the only person inducted into both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Arena Football Hall of Fame.
Warner first attained stardom while playing for the St. Louis Rams from 1998 to 2003, where he won NFL MVP awards in 1999 and 2001 as well as the Super Bowl MVP award in Super Bowl XXXIV when he and the Rams beat the Tennessee Titans. He led the 2008 Arizona Cardinals to Super Bowl XLIII (the franchise's first Super Bowl berth), and owns three of the top five highest single-game passing yardage totals in Super Bowl history. Warner is one of only two quarterbacks to win the Super Bowl in their first season as a starter, the other being Tom Brady. Warner currently holds the tenth-highest career passer rating of all-time (93.7), and the fourth-highest career completion percentage in NFL history with 65.5%.In 13 career playoff games, Warner ranks 5th all-time in completion percentage (66.5%), 10th in yards per attempt (8.55), and 10th in passer rating (102.8). He announced his retirement after the conclusion of the 2009 season.

Calais Malik Campbell (born September 1, 1986) is an American football defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Miami, and was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Dick Lane

Richard Lane (April 16, 1928 – January 29, 2002), commonly known as Dick "Night Train" Lane, was an American football player.  A native of Austin, Texas, he played professional football in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 years as a defensive back for the Los Angeles Rams (1952–1953), Chicago Cardinals (1954–1959), and Detroit Lions (1960–1965).
As a rookie in 1952, Lane had 14 interceptions, a mark that remains an NFL record more than 65 years later.  He played in the Pro Bowl seven times and was selected as a first-team All-NFL player seven times between 1956 and 1963.  His 68 career interceptions ranked second in NFL history at the time of his retirement and still ranks fourth in NFL history. He was also known as one of the most ferocious tacklers in NFL history and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1974. He was also named to the NFL's all-time All-Pro team in 1969 and its 75th Anniversary All-Time Team in 1994. In 1999, he was ranked number 20 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players.
After retiring from professional football, Lane worked for the Detroit Lions in various administrative positions from 1966 to 1972 and then held assistant coaching positions at Southern University (1972) and Central State University (1973). For 17 years from 1975 to 1992, he was in charge of Detroit's Police Athletic League.

Anquan Kenmile Boldin Sr. (; born October 3, 1980) is a former American football wide receiver who spent 14 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Florida State and was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft. He also played for the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions.
Boldin was the 2003 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, was selected to three Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl XLVII with the Ravens. In 2015, he was named the Walter Payton Man of the Year for his community service.

Dan Dierdorf

Daniel Lee Dierdorf (born June 29, 1949) is an American sportscaster and former football offensive lineman.
A native of Canton, Ohio, Dierdorf played college football for the University of Michigan from 1968 to 1970 and was selected as a consensus first-team All-American in 1970 and a first-team All-Big Ten Conference player in 1969 and 1970. He was inducted into the University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor in 1996 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
Dierdorf played professional football in National Football League (NFL) with the St. Louis Cardinals for 13 seasons from 1971 to 1983. He was selected by the National Football League Players Association as the Offensive Lineman of the Year for three consecutive years from 1976 to 1978. Between 1974 and 1980, he played in the Pro Bowl six times and was chosen as a first-team All-Pro five times.  He was named to the NFL 1970s All-Decade Team and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
Since his playing career ended, Dierdorf has worked as a broadcaster. He worked for American Broadcasting Company (ABC) from 1987 to 1999, including 12 seasons as color analyst on Monday Night Football. He was then part of the NFL on CBS team as an announcer for 15 years from 1999 to 2013. Since 2014, he has been the color analyst for Michigan Wolverines football radio broadcasts. In 2008, Dierdorf received the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Darnell Dockett

Darnell Maurice Dockett (born May 27, 1981) is a former American football defensive end who had a ten-season career playing for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at Florida State University.
Dockett played defensive tackle for the first five seasons of his career until the Cardinals switched to a 3–4 defense, leading him to move to defensive end.

Aeneas Demetrius Williams (; (born January 29, 1968) is a former American football player, who played with the Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams of the National Football League (NFL).  He played college football for Southern University and was drafted in the third round (59th overall) of the 1991 NFL Draft. Williams was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. Tyrann Mathieu

Tyrann Devine Mathieu is an American football free safety and cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He played college football for Louisiana State University. Following his 2011 college season during which he was recognized as a consensus All-American and a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, Mathieu was dismissed from the LSU Tigers football program. Larry Eugene Centers (born June 1, 1968) is a former American football fullback in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons, mostly for his first team, the Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals (1990–1998). Centers then played for the Washington Redskins (1999–2000), Buffalo Bills (2001–2002), and finally was a member of the New England Patriots for their second Super Bowl win in 2003.
One of the most prolific pass catching running backs in NFL history, Centers topped 100 receptions in 1995 and had 99 receptions in 1996. He owns the NFL record for most passes caught by a running back during a career. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1995, 1996, and 2001.

Terry Metcalf

Terrance Randolph Metcalf (born September 24, 1951) is a former professional gridiron football running back who played six total seasons in the National Football League (NFL), five of them with the St. Louis Cardinals and one with the Washington Redskins, and three seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Toronto Argonauts.  He attended Long Beach State University. He is the father of former NFL wide receiver and kick returner Eric Metcalf.
Metcalf finished his NFL career with 3,489 rushing yards, 245 receptions for 2,457 yards, 936 punt return yards, and 3,087 yards returning kickoffs. He also scored 36 touchdowns (24 rushing, 9 receiving, 1 punt return, 2 kickoff returns). He holds the record for most games with 250+ all purpose yards: 7.
In the 14-game 1975 season, Metcalf set a then-NFL record for combined yards with 2,462. This feat has since been eclipsed during the 16-game era (instituted in 1978), with Lionel James of the San Diego Chargers being the first to do so in 1985. James' head coach was Don Coryell, who also coached Metcalf during his record-setting season.  He also became the first player in NFL history to average at least 30 yards per kick return and 10 yards per punt return in the same season.  Joshua Cribbs of the Cleveland Browns became the second in 2007.
Metcalf also played three full seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts. In 1978, he rushed 169 times for 669 yards, and caught 31 passes. In 1979, he carried the ball 141 times for 691 yards and caught 55 passes, and in his final year, 1980, he rushed for 540 yards and caught 51 passes. While he was a division all star in 1979, his rushing average is below the 5 yards per carry expected by a good running back in the CFL (with its three down game) and his performance in Toronto was seen as underwhelming.

Carson Palmer

Carson Hilton Palmer (born December 27, 1979) is a former American football quarterback who played 15 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Cincinnati Bengals, Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals. He played college football at USC and won the Heisman Trophy in 2002.
The first overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, Palmer was chosen by the Bengals, for whom he played eight seasons. During his tenure in Cincinnati, he helped lead the team to its first winning season and playoff appearance in 15 years and was named to two Pro Bowls. Amid declining success and conflicts with Bengals ownership, Palmer was traded to the Oakland Raiders, where he played for two seasons before joining Arizona via another trade.
With the Cardinals, Palmer continued his run of dependable but injury-plagued steadiness under center. He enjoyed his most successful year in 2015, aiding the Cardinals in their advancement to the NFC Championship game, and being named to his third Pro Bowl, in addition to being a second-team All-Pro. Palmer retired following the 2017 regular season after spending much of the league year on injured reserve.

Roger Russell Wehrli (born November 26, 1947) is an American former football player who was a cornerback for his entire 14-year career with the St. Louis Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL) from 1969 until 1982. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler after playing college football at the University of Missouri, where he was a consensus All-American and a first-round draft choice by the Cardinals in 1969. He was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.

David Johnson

David Jerome Johnson Sr. (born December 16, 1991) is an American football running back for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He played college football at Northern Iowa. Johnson attended Clinton High School in Clinton, Iowa, where he was a three-sport star in football, track, and basketball. He played as a running back and defensive back for the River Kings high school football team. He set numerous school records including touchdowns in a season, career receptions, career receiving yards, career and single-season total offense and single game record for touchdowns. As a senior, Johnson led Clinton to an 11–1 record while accounting for a school-record 42 touchdowns. For his efforts, he was selected 2009 Outstanding Offensive Player for Clinton.

He attended Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, California, the football standout was also a track and field star.  While winning the 100-yard dash at the 1967 CIF California State Meet, Gray set not only the meet record but the National High School record of 9.4 in the event at the time.  His meet record lasted until 1979.  He accepted a scholarship to the University of Missouri.  He was a sixth-round draft choice for the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1971 NFL draft and was selected to four straight Pro Bowls (1974–1977).  Gray caught passes in 121 consecutive games between 1973 and 1982.

Simeon James Rice (; born February 24, 1974) is a former American football defensive end. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals third overall in the 1996 NFL Draft. He is 20th all-time in sacks (122) in NFL history.
In his 12-year NFL career, Rice recorded 122 sacks, forced 25 fumbles, recovered 8, and intercepted 5 passes. He earned three Pro Bowl selections and earned a Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII, beating the Oakland Raiders. He has also played for the Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts and New York Sentinels.
