Every 'Atelier' Game, Ranked Best To Worst

List RulesMajor console releases only (no spin-offs).

As one of the most prolific (and lesser-known) RPG franchises of all time, the Atelier series spans more than 20 games over the past few decades. While the earlier games were never released outside of Japan, the series has since become more popular in the West, with subsequent ports and remasters popping up on the PS4 and Switch. While each game is unique, they all center around the use of alchemy — namely, the art of crafting, combining, and collecting items to create more powerful ones.

While the franchise has spawned several memorable sub-series, this list only features the mainline releases. That said, most of the mainline games are set within a handful of recurring series. The Iris series, for example, was pretty much exclusive to the PlayStation 2, while the Mysterious series includes a handful of Atelier games that have since been ported to the Switch and PS4.

Whether you're a new fan looking to see what's the best Atelier game to start with or are a veteran player who definitely has some opinions, check out this definitive ranking of all the Atelier games and see where your favorites stack up.
