A list of the best Atlanta Falcons of all time. Formed in 1966, the first few decades of the team's history wasn't too promising. The Falcons didn't reach the playoffs until 1978, and had only five playoff berths in its first 30 years. Atlanta has had some of the most entertaining teams in the league with a bunch of superstar players. These Falcons can be considered some of the best players in team history.Beginning in 1989 with the drafting of one of the <a href="http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/best-football-players-ever">best players of all time</a> in Deion Sanders. With &quot;Prime Time&quot; and other great players like Andre Rison and Terence Mathis, the Falcons were <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/best-movies-to-watch-while-drinking/anncasano?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">fun to watch</a>. In 1998, Jamal Anderson powered the Falcons to the franchise's first Super Bowl berth. Though the team lost to the Broncos in Super Bowl XXXIII, it was a turning point for the Falcons. Under Michael VIck, the Falcons reached the playoffs twice. Say what you want about Vick, but he's one of the best Falcons of all time. More recently, Matt Ryan has been at the helm of the most prosperous era in Falcons history. The team had its first consecutive winning seasons in 2008-09 and the future looks bright with Ryan as the quarterback.This is the list of the best Atlanta Falcons of all time. Deion Sanders

Deion Luwynn Sanders Sr. (; born August 9, 1967), nicknamed "Prime Time" and "Neon Deion", is a retired American football player, baseball player and sports analyst who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons. During his football career, he was a member of the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers,  Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and the Baltimore Ravens. He also had a part-time career as a baseball outfielder for nine seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), where he played professionally for the New York Yankees, the Atlanta Braves, the Cincinnati Reds, and the San Francisco Giants. Sanders won two Super Bowl titles and made one World Series appearance in 1992, making him the only individual to appear in both a Super Bowl and a World Series.
Sanders attended Florida State University, where he was recognized as a two-time All-American in football, and also played baseball and ran track. He was drafted by the Falcons in the first round of the 1989 NFL Draft and played football primarily at cornerback, but also as a kick returner, punt returner, and occasionally wide receiver. During his career, he was named to nine Pro Bowls and made consecutive Super Bowl appearances in XXIX with the 49ers and XXX with the Cowboys, winning both. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
Following the conclusion of his athletic career, Sanders currently works as an analyst for CBS Sports and the NFL Network. He is also the offensive coordinator at Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill high school, which his sons attend. Sanders founded the Prime Prep Academy charter school in 2012 where he coached until the school closed in 2015 due to financial insolvency.  Additionally, he starred in the show Deion Family Playbook which debuted in 2014.

Desmond Trufant

Desmond Trufant is an American football cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Falcons in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played college football at Washington.

Asante Samuel

Asante T. Samuel (born January 6, 1981) is a former American football cornerback. He played college football at UCF, and was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. Samuel also played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.

DeAngelo Hall

DeAngelo Eugene Hall (born November 19, 1983) is a former American football defensive back who played 14 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Virginia Tech and was drafted with the eighth overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. A cornerback for the majority of his playing career, he transitioned to free safety towards the end of his tenure with the Washington Redskins. Hall also played half a season for the Oakland Raiders.
Hall was invited to three Pro Bowls in his career: two with the Falcons and one with the Redskins. In 2010, he tied an NFL record by recording four interceptions in a game against the Chicago Bears. He also holds the NFL record for most fumble return yardage in a career, while his five career fumble return touchdowns ranks second behind Jason Taylor. Following his playing career, he began working as an on-air analyst for NBC Sports Washington, Fox Sports 1, and NFL Network.

Brent Grimes

Brent Omar Grimes (born July 19, 1983) is an American football cornerback who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Shippensburg University and signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2006. Grimes was allocated to the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europa in 2006 and was part of the team that won World Bowl XV. Grimes is currently the second oldest active cornerback in the league after Tramon Williams.

Ray Buchanan

Raymond Louis Buchanan (born September 29, 1971) is a former American football player in the NFL. He was drafted out of Louisville in 1993 by the Indianapolis Colts in the 3rd round (65th overall), and subsequently played for the Atlanta Falcons and the Oakland Raiders.

Robert Alford

Robert Alford is an American football cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Falcons in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played college football at Southeastern Louisiana.

He played college football at South Carolina and was drafted by the Houston Texans with the 10th overall selection in the 2004 NFL Draft. Robinson also played for the Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs.

Bobby Butler

Robert Calvin Butler, is a former professional American football player. Butler played for Florida State University at the college level and was drafted in the first round of the NFL draft in 1981 by the Atlanta Falcons. He played for 12 years for the Atlanta Falcons, his entire NFL career, retiring after the 1992 season.

Rolland Lawrence

Rolland Derenfro "Bay" Lawrence (born March 24, 1951) is a former professional American football cornerback who played his entire NFL career for the Atlanta Falcons from 1973 to 1980. He was selected to his one and only Pro Bowl in 1977.  Lawrence played college football for the Tabor Bluejays in Hillsboro, Kansas.Lawrence still holds the Falcons record for most interceptions in a career with 39.

Chris Houston

Christopher Don Houston (born October 18, 1984) is a former American football cornerback who played in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Arkansas, and was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Houston was also a member of the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers.

Blidi Bertrand Wreh-Wilson is an American football cornerback for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Titans in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played college football at Connecticut.

Kevin Bryant Mathis (born April 29, 1974) is a former American football cornerback in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, and Atlanta Falcons. He played college football at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Juran Bolden

Juran T. Bolden (born June 27, 1974) is a former American cornerback of American and Canadian football. He last played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League in 2007. He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft. He played high school football for Hillsborough High School in Tampa and collegiately at Mississippi Delta.
Bolden played for Atlanta, the Green Bay Packers, the Carolina Panthers, and then in 1999 he played for the Kansas City Chiefs.  In 2000-2001, he played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. He returned to the Atlanta Falcons in 2002, was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2004.  He was signed as a free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2005, returning to his hometown.
Bolden was arrested October 11, 2003 in Atlanta, Georgia on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and violation of Georgia's controlled substances act. He was not indicted on the drug charge, and on April 14, 2004 pleaded no contest to possession of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle aforementioned which was purchased from a friend that unbeknownst to him was stolen. He was sentenced as a first-time offender to three years probation and ordered to pay a $3,000 fine.
On April 30, 2007, he was released by the Bucs and returned to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. After missing the last three games of the season as well as the post-season games, Bolden was released before the 2008 training camp on May 27, 2008.

Domonique Foxworth

Domonique Foxworth (born March 27, 1983) is a former American football cornerback who played in the National Football League (NFL). Foxworth played college football for the University of Maryland. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft, and also played for the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens.
After retiring from the NFL, Foxworth attended and graduated from Harvard Business School.

Ashley Ambrose

Ashley Avery Ambrose (born September 17, 1970 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a former professional American football cornerback for several NFL teams during the 1990s and early 2000s who most recently served as the corner backs coach for the Colorado Buffaloes football team.
Ambrose was a one time Pro Bowl selection in 1996  and AFC Defensive Back of the Year while he was playing with the Cincinnati Bengals, the team for which he played from 1996-1998. He also played for the Indianapolis Colts from 1992–1995, the New Orleans Saints in 1999 and again in 2003 and 2004 and for the Atlanta Falcons from 2000-2002. He attended New Orleans (LA) Alcee Fortier and Mississippi Valley State University and has 42 career interceptions for 512 yards and three touchdowns. Prior to the 2005 season, he tried out for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Ambrose was hired as a defensive technical intern for the Colorado football team's 2008 season. In May 2009, head coach Dan Hawkins announced that Ambrose would take over as the wide receivers coach in 2010, but after the departure of Greg Brown, Ambrose took over the defensive backs. From 2011-12, he was the secondary coach at California.  In 2013, he spent the season with the New Orleans Saints in the NFL as a minority intern.  In 2014, he coached cornerbacks at Idaho and moved on to Texas State in 2015 before being hired by Boise State in January 2016.On Jan 13, 2016, it was reported by The Idaho Statesman that Ambrose has been hired as the Defensive Backs coach for the Boise State Broncos.
On Jan 17, 2018, it was reported by various sources on ESPN that Ambrose would return to the University of Colorado Buffaloes as a defensive backs coach.

Ron Smith

Ronald "Trousers" Smith (May 3, 1943 – June 2, 2013) was an American football defensive back and return specialist.  He played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for ten season with five teams: the Chicago Bears (1965, 1970–1972), the Atlanta Falcons (1966–1967), the Los Angeles Rams (1968–1969), the San Diego Chargers (1973), and the Oakland Raiders (1974). He went to the Pro Bowl after the 1972 season as a kick returner.
On June 2, 2013, Smith died in Denver, Colorado after a battle with lung cancer.

Jason Webster

Jason Richmond Webster (born September 8, 1977) is a former American football cornerback. He played college football at Texas A&M and was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft.
Webster was also a member of the Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots.

Tom Hayes

Thomas Hayes (born April 18, 1946) is a former professional American football cornerback who played six seasons in the National Football League, mainly for the Atlanta Falcons. He was born in Riverside, California, USA and attended San Diego State University.

Tod McBride

Tod McBride (born January 26, 1976 in Los Angeles, California) is a former American football cornerback in the National Football League. He was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 1999. He played college football at UCLA.
McBride also played for the Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks, and St. Louis Rams.

Vinnie Clark

Vincent Eugene Clark (born January 22, 1969 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is a former American football cornerback in the NFL for the Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played college football at Ohio State University.
In 2005, Clark was named an assistant coach for the Arena Football League team the Columbus Destroyers. The head coach for the Destroyers was Chris Spielman, Clark's former teammate at Ohio State.

Wendell Cason

Wendell Cason (born January 22, 1963) is a former American football cornerback and safety in the National Football League. He was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 1985. He played college football at Oregon.
