Australia has contributed a lot to the horror genre over the years, featuring some of the best psychological and torture horror the world has ever seen. This list of Australian horror movies is a great guide for those looking to dive into the Australian horror scene, especially if you're not from the country.

If you love horror, then you know Australian director James Wan is credited as starting the massive franchise that is Saw. Featuring a dying psychopath who loves teaching life lessons to his unfortunate victims, there are currently five Saw movies that are streaming on Netflix instant, so marathon those if you haven't seen them.

Definitely check out the 2014 sensation The Babadook as well; a psychological horror film that is a bit slower than your usual horror flick, but definitely leaves a lasting impression. The film is critically acclaimed, with almost a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
