Black Panther, also known as T'Challa, King of Wakanda, is the first Black superhero introduced in mainstream comics. Created by the comics legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, he first appeared in Fantastic Four #52 back in 1966. Since then, T'Challa has been met by some of the fiercest villains in comic history.Â

Erik Killmonger, portrayed by Michael B. Jordan in the MCU's Black Panther (2018), first appeared in Jungle Action #6 (1973) as a Wakandan exile seeking revenge on T'Challa for his father's death; fueled by hatred and vengeance, he seeks to overthrow the Wakandan monarchy and establish himself as ruler, ultimately challenging T'Challa to a ritual combat that tests both their physical prowess and ideologies.
