For certain alcohol lovers, there's nothing better than a good American bourbon. From bourbon whiskeys to other popular bourbon brands, this list is an extensive collection of the various flavors of the favorite drink of many. The names of both top selling bourbons and more obscure varieties are listed below, so if you're looking for a great bourbon this is the place for you!

Bourbon is a very distinct tasting liquor. All bourbon must be aged in new, charred-oak barrels, and is given a distinctive flavor based on the number of years it aged. Some consider bourbon to be one of the truest forms of alcohol. Bourbon whiskey is an alcoholic beverage that is made primarily from corn and produced in the United States. The mash can be different combinations of malted barley, rye, wheat, and at least 51% corn. Whatever is used gives the bourbon a different flavor. As the bourbon ages in the wooden casks, it gets its color from the caramelized sugars in the charred wood. However long it is left in the cask is also going to change the taste of the bourbon. Due to variations in these processes, there are many different whisky and bourbon types.

Drinkers have many varying options to consider when trying to choose which bourbon is the right one for them. What is the most popular bourbon brand? Should they go with a single barrel bourbon like Elijah Craig, Basil Hayden's or Pappy Van Winkle? How about an aged, blended bourbon like Jefferson's Presidential Select, Four Roses, or Wild Turkey? Do you prefer Kentucky bourbons or other top shelf varieties for your drinking pleasure?

This list is to help determine which kinds of bourbon are the best tasting out there through votes from the Ranker users. There are some great examples of bourbon below, so vote up your favorite and vote down the ones that just miss the mark.
