Marshawn Lynch

Marshawn Terrell Lynch (born April 22, 1986) is a former American football running back. He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft after playing college football at the University of California, Berkeley, where he became the school's second all-time career rusher.After three seasons with the Bills, Lynch was traded to the Seattle Seahawks mid-way through the 2010 season. With Seattle, he made four Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl XLVIII against the Denver Broncos. After initially retiring after the 2015 season, Lynch applied for reinstatement and was traded to the Oakland Raiders in April 2017, with whom he played two seasons before retiring again. Lynch earned the nickname "Beast Mode" for his powerful running style and consistent ability to run over defenders and break tackles. He is considered by some analysts to be among the best running backs of all-time.Lynch has been cast in the third season of the HBO drama Westworld, set to air in 2020.



Jahvid Best

Jahvid Andre Best (born January 30, 1989) is an Olympic track and field athlete and a former American football running back. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at California, setting several school records, including most all-purpose yards in a single season and most rushing yards in a single game. Best also led the Pac-10 in total rushing yards in 2008. Best competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics, representing Saint Lucia in track and field.

Chuck Muncie

Harry Vance "Chuck" Muncie (March 17, 1953 − May 13, 2013) was an American football running back who played for the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers in the National Football League (NFL) from 1976 to 1984. He was selected to the Pro Bowl three times, and tied the then-NFL season record for rushing touchdowns in 1981.
Muncie played college football for the California Golden Bears, setting numerous school records.  In his senior year, he was the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy, given annually to the most outstanding college football player. Muncie was drafted by New Orleans in the first round in the 1976 NFL Draft with the third overall pick. He became the first member of the Saints to be named to a Pro Bowl, and he was their first player to rush for 1,000 yards. He was traded to San Diego in 1980, starring in their high-scoring offense known as Air Coryell while being named to two additional Pro Bowls.
Muncie was considered one of the best running backs of his era until cocaine problems forced him into retirement. His drug problems eventually landed him in prison.  Afterwards, he turned his life around by helping others through mentoring programs. He founded the Chuck Muncie Youth Foundation.

Russell Lamar White (born December 15, 1970) is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for a single season in 1993.  White played college football for the California Golden Bears, and was recognized as an All-American.  Thereafter, he played professionally for the NFL's Los Angeles Rams.



Justin Forsett

Justin Forsett (born October 14, 1985) is a former American football running back. He played college football at California and was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Forsett also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, and Denver Broncos. Forsett's best season came in 2014 as a member of the Ravens, when he was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate after finishing the season with career highs in carries (235), rushing yards (1,266) and touchdowns (8).

J. J. Arrington

Johnathan Jerone Arrington (born January 23, 1983) is a former American football running back. He played college football at College of the Canyons and the University of California, Berkeley, and received consensus All-American recognition. The Arizona Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He also played for the Denver Broncos, and had a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles and Las Vegas Locomotives of the UFL.

C. J. Anderson

Cortrelle Javon "C. J." Anderson (born February 10, 1991) is an American football running back for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at California and was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2013. With Denver he made one Pro Bowl and won Super Bowl 50. He also played for the Los Angeles Rams, where he played in Super Bowl LIII. Anderson attended Jesse M. Bethel High School in Vallejo, California, where he played high school football for the Jaguars. Anderson was selected to the first-team All-American, All-State, and All-NorCal Conference teams while at Laney College in Oakland, California. Anderson signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on March 17, 2013. On December 5, 2018, Anderson was signed by the Oakland Raiders. On December 11, 2018, he was waived by the Raiders without seeing any game action. On April 1, 2019, Anderson signed with the Detroit Lions.

Shane Patrick-Henry Vereen (born March 2, 1989) is an American football running back who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played college football for the California Golden Bears.

John Tuggle

John Davis Tuggle was a running back in the National Football League. Tuggle was the final selection of the 1983 NFL Draft, selected by the New York Giants. The nickname given to the last player selected in the draft is "Mr. Irrelevant." He played that season with the team. He would go on to be awarded the New York Giants Special Teams Player of the Year that season.
Tuggle played high school football for Independence High School in San Jose, California. The school now holds an annual golf tournament in his memory, as a sports program fundraiser.
Tuggle died from cancer on August 30, 1986. Though they did not keep him on the team after the 1985 season, the Giants paid for Tuggle's health insurance for the remainder of his life, and wore his number 38 on their helmets during their 1986–87 Super Bowl winning season.
Tuggle was the subject of the 30 for 30 short, The Irrelevant Giant.
