Formed in 1995 with their expansion brothers, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Panthers have been one of the most up-and-down NFL franchises during their existence. The early Panthers teams were some of the best in football. The Carolina Panthers franchise only extends back to 1995, and in its brief time in the league, the team has seen its fair share of success of heartbreak, making the playoffs eight times in 24 seasons but losing in the Super Bowl twice. As such, the list of Panthers coaches is not very long.

Steve Smith

Stevonne Latrall Smith Sr. (born May 12, 1979) is a former American football wide receiver who played 16 seasons in the National Football League (NFL), primarily with the Carolina Panthers. He played college football at Utah, and was drafted by the Panthers in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He played for the Baltimore Ravens during the final three years of his career.
Smith, a five-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time All-Pro, emerged as one of the NFL's most productive wide receivers of the 21st century, leading the league in catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns in 2005. He played for the Panthers for 13 seasons before signing with the Ravens in March 2014, and is the Panthers' all-time leader in total touchdowns (67), receptions (836) and receiving yards (12,197). In 2011, he became the 35th player in NFL history to amass 10,000 receiving yards. In 2016, Smith became the 14th player in NFL history to amass 1,000 career receptions. At the time of his retirement, he ranked seventh in NFL career all-purpose yards (19,180). As of November 2018, he is eighth in NFL career receiving yards (14,731), 12th in career receptions (1,031), and 25th in receiving touchdowns (81).

Muhsin Muhammad

Muhsin Muhammad II (; born Melvin Darnell Campbell Jr. May 5, 1973) is a former American football wide receiver who played for the Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL).  Muhammad played college football for Michigan State. He was drafted by the Panthers in the second round of the 1996 NFL Draft. Muhammad was a two-time Pro Bowl selection for the Panthers in 1999 and 2004 and also made the 2004 All-Pro Team. He was known for his nickname, "Moose," and for his signature mustache, and touchdown dance, which was featured in one of the opening cameos of Madden NFL 2006.



Ted Ginn, Jr.

Theodore Ginn Jr. (born April 12, 1985) is an American football wide receiver and return specialist for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ohio State and was drafted by the Miami Dolphins ninth overall in the 2007 NFL Draft. Ginn has also played for the San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, and Carolina Panthers.

Keyshawn Johnson

Joseph Keyshawn Johnson (born July 22, 1972) is a former American football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for eleven seasons.
He played college football for the University of Southern California, and earned All-American honors.  The first pick in the 1996 NFL Draft, he played professionally for the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers.
He retired from football following the 2006 season, and spent seven years as a television broadcaster for the sports channel ESPN.  Keyshawn Johnson was a contestant on the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars, in which he was the first contestant eliminated.

Brandon LaFell

Brandon Josiah LaFell (born November 4, 1986) is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft, and has also played for the New England Patriots where he was a member of the Super Bowl XLIX winning team. He played college football at LSU.

Jerricho Cotchery (born June 16, 1982) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) with the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers from 2004 to 2015. He played college football for North Carolina State University.

Corey Brown

Corey "Philly" Brown (born December 16, 1991) is an American football wide receiver and return specialist who is currently a free agent. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He played college football at Ohio State.

Raghib Ismail

Raghib Ramadian "Rocket" Ismail (born November 18, 1969) is an American retired player of American and Canadian football.  A wide receiver and kick returner, he came to prominence playing college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish before moving on to both the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 1991–92 and the National Football League (NFL) from 1993-2001.
Ismail recorded two 1,000-yard receiving seasons in the NFL and was a CFL All-Star in 1991, as well as the Most Valuable Player of the 79th Grey Cup.  In 2004, College Football News named Ismail the No. 75 player on its list of the Top 100 Greatest College Football Players of All-Time. He was also selected by Sports Illustrated to the 85-man roster of its all-20th Century college football team.

Mark Carrier

John Mark Carrier (born October 28, 1965) is a former professional American football wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the 1987 NFL Draft 57th overall. Carrier is currently the Executive Director of Football Staff for the Carolina Panthers.

Willie Green

Willie Aaron Green (born April 2, 1966) is a former professional American football wide receiver who played for the Detroit Lions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Carolina Panthers, and the Denver Broncos in the National Football League. He played college football at the University of Mississippi.

Kelvin Benjamin

Kelvin Benjamin (born February 5, 1991) is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Florida State and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. After totaling over 1,000 receiving yards in his rookie season, Benjamin missed his sophomore year with a torn ACL. He returned in 2016 and caught 941 yards and seven touchdowns. Midway through 2017, Benjamin was traded to the Bills and appeared in six games with the team. With his play continuing to decline and his effort being called into question by coaches and the media, the team released Benjamin during the 2018 season. He subsequently signed with the Chiefs, but made just two catches in three regular season games and did not appear in the team's playoff run.

Patrick Christopher Jeffers (born February 2, 1973) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League for the Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, and Carolina Panthers. With the Broncos, he won Super Bowl XXXII over Brett Favre and the world champion Green Bay Packers. He played college football at the University of Virginia.

For Admiral Donald Hayes of the Robotech series, Donald Hayes (Robotech).Donald Ross Hayes, Jr. (born July 13, 1975 in Century, Florida) is a former American football wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots of the National Football League. Hayes played college football at Wisconsin.
In 2003, Hayes signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars but was released following the preseason.On May 31, 2006, Hayes signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and participated in their pre-season training camp. He was cut by the team on June 10, 2006.

Keary Colbert

Patrick Keary Jerel Colbert (born May 21, 1982) is a former American football wide receiver. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at USC.
Colbert also played for the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, Florida Tuskers, Sacramento Mountain Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs.

David Gettis

David Alexander Gettis (born August 27, 1987) is a former American football wide receiver. He was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football for Baylor University.

Rae Carruth

Rae Theotis Carruth (born Rae Lamar Wiggins; January 20, 1974) is an American convicted felon  and former football wide receiver. After playing college football at Colorado, Carruth was drafted in the first round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL) and spent three seasons with the team.
In 2001, he was found guilty of conspiring to murder his then-girlfriend Cherica Adams, who was pregnant with his child. Including pre-trial confinement, he served 18 years of an 18–24 year prison sentence at the Sampson Correctional Institution in Clinton, North Carolina, and was released on October 22, 2018.

Eric Guliford

Eric Andre Guliford (born October 25, 1969) was an American football wide receiver who played five seasons in the National Football League and four seasons in the Canadian Football League. He was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the 1995 NFL Expansion Draft.

Legedu Naanee

Legedu A. Naanee (pronounced LEG-a-doo Nah-NAY, born September 16, 1983) is a former American football wide receiver. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football for the Boise State University Broncos. Naanee has also played for the Carolina Panthers and the Miami Dolphins.
