The best current NBA coaches are the talented men leading one of the 30 teams in the National Basketball Championship in the 2018-2019 season. Like other professional coaches, some come and go with a firing after a poor season many times guaranteed, but the truly great coaches stick around in search of greatness. These current NBA head coaches are definitely the best in the league right now but many will also be remembered among the best NBA coaches of all time. Be sure to vote for your pick for the 2019 NBA Coach of the Year!
As the longest-tenured coach with the same team, few would deny that Gregg Popovich is the best current NBA coach. Leading the Stan Antonio Spurs and all other current coaches in current wins, only one current coach has a better winning percentage. That man is none other than Tom Thibodeau who has led the Chicago Bulls since 2010 to a 68.3 win percentage and the fastest coach in NBA history to reach the 100-win mark.
On the other end of the spectrum, some coaches just don't quite stack up. Those with less experience coaching in the NBA fall on the bottom end of the stats with Kenny Atkinson of the Brooklyn Nets and Alvin Gentry of the New Orleans Pelicans each winning under 30% of their games as head coach. The true measure will however be their numbers once they coach for a while with both having one season or less under their belts. Then again no one is ruling them out as being among the worst NBA coaches of all time either.
So whether you're a fan of the coaches who have been around for awhile, like Doc Rivers of the Los Angeles Clippers, or someone fairly new, like Luke Walton of the Los Angeles Lakers, or just the coach of your local team, come vote for your favorites below!
