List Rules Vote up Letterman's absolute best Top 10 lists.

David Letterman announced his retirement as host of "Late Show" in April 2014. Viewers will be saying goodbye to Dave sometime in 2015, and leaving with him will be his popular segment, the Top Ten List. The lists began back in 1985 when Letterman was hosting "Late Night," and from there, the segment grew. What were the best Letterman Top 10 lists? Vote for your favorites below on this meta-tastic list of the Top 10 David Letterman Top 10 lists.

The Top Ten List was not originally a regular "Late Night" segment. It was added as a way of mocking People magazine. The segment was created by Steve O'Donnell, former head writer of Letterman's "Late Night." The first-ever list aired on September 18, 1985, and was entitled, "The Top 10 Things That Almost Rhyme With Peas." Many celebrity guests have joined in on the fun as well, including John Malkovich, Eminem, Rudy Giuliani, and multiple U.S. Presidents.

Vote up the funniest of these Top 10 Letterman Top 10 lists below. As the longest serving host in late-night television, he (and the Top 10 list) will surely be missed. Who do you think should replace Letterman? Cast your votes here and see where Letterman ranks on the list of all time greatest late night talk show hosts.
