There was a magical moment in Lost, somewhere between the breakout first season and all the nonsense that flowed after it, where we actually thought that each new mystery the show unravelled existed for a reason. When Desmond Hume was introduced at the bottom of The Hatch pushing a button every 108 minutes, fans around the world were mesmerized by this new character and transfixed by the mysteries that surrounded him. Of course, in the end, all of it meant pretty much nothing, but that doesn't change the fact that Desmond remains one of Lost's most enduring characters.
Equal parts cheery, tragic, and played with Emmy-nominated gravitas by Henry Ian Cusick, Desmond was a central figure of Lost right up until 'The End.' From his flashbacks to his flash-sideways' to his memorable relationship with Penny, the best Desmond episodes of Lost always represented the show at its very best. When a Desmond centric episode came on, you knew it could be counted on to provide that special dose of mystery, emotion, and drama that Lost excelled at once upon a time.
Without thinking too hard about what it all meant, let's roll back in time, enter the numbers, and rank the best Desmond episodes of Lost, okay brother?
