843 votes 219 voters 2.4k views

In all the years they've been competing in the NHL, the Detroit Red Wings have certainly gone through some great (and not so great) coaches. That being said, who is the best Detroit Red Wings head coach of all time? This list ranks every Detroit Red Wings coach from best to worst with the help of our users. Hockey fans like you have already voted on this list, but we want you to contribute as well. Upvote your top Detroit Red Wings coaches, keeping stats like regular season record and playoff appearances in mind.

Scotty Bowman became the most popular man in Detroit after winning three Stanley Cups in the 1990s. In fact, Bowman is the last coach to lead a team to back to back Stanley Cup championships as he did in 1997 and 1998

Another contender for best Red Wings coach of all time goes to Jack Adams, who led the Red Wings to their first Stanley Cup championship in 1936 just ten years after the formation of the team. Adams would go on to win two more Stanley Cups before stepping down in the 1950's to become the team's general manager.

If the Detroit Red Wings assembled a team with players from every decade, who would coach it? Vote for the most winningest Detroit Red Wings coach, or simply just the coach that you personally liked the most.
