With the rise of SoundCloud rappers, a new hip hop subgenre called emo rap was born. Dropping the best emo rap songs of 2019, these are the best emo rap artists who are making this once-underground subgenre mainstream. Also known as sad rap or emo hip hop, emo rap music features darker themes in their lyrics, like suicide, depression, and loneliness. Other elements in emo rap include "crying" vocals, experimental beats, and instrumental blends with rock music. Who is the best emo rapper of all time?
Unfortunately, some of the most popular Emo rappers have died in the past several years. Lil Peep, XXXTentacion, and Juice WRLD passed at tragically young ages in 2017, 2018, and 2019, respectively. Some current top emo rap artists are Trippie Redd, Post Malone, and Lil Uzi Vert, though of course, the songs of the aforementioned late rappers live on.
Vote up the best emo rappers, and add your favorites if they're missing from the list.
